A bit of work...also my influences for this ship (as well as the original design I did 3 years ago). Stopping the inevitable idiotic Discovery comments that will show up.

One more iteration if you would. Have the "wings" on discovery, but place slanted up-right nacele supports on their ends.

Since I'm waiting on the official Discovery design to come out so I can finish my concept, I started working on the Ad Victoriam design (and I got the name from the song that plays when you are getting your Year 3 Gjallarhorn in Destiny).

I'll look forward to the Parcheesi board and the RC Death Star runs.
Yea I'm still looking for a good spot for the bowling alley and strip club...I mean...ummm....

God it's been six years going on seven. So much has changed not just for myself but for this ship, her crew, and her story. Here are some tidbits of her development over the years, from ideas that worked to some that didn't.

Was inspired by this guys cartoon Star Wars animation on Instagram. Obviously not an accurate canon version (would of just downloaded a mesh and converted the textures otherwise).

Gosh it feels nice to do some actual artwork again. Been busy with life and working on my first Guard novel.

A Federation dreadnought from the 23rd Century, the Atlas-class was one of the first Starfleet vessels fitted with a fighter bay. She is significantly larger than the Constitution-class Heavy Cruiser. She was commissioned during a time when conflicts between the Federation and the Klingon Empire were becoming more and more frequent, as well as to combat the new threat of the Klingon's latest weapon, the D9 Battlecruiser. With eight phaser banks and two photon torpedo launchers, she led the Federation on the front lines against Klingon aggressors.

Atlas-Class from Star Trek Online (will have to look for the original artist who came up with this design)
Rendered in 3DS MAX
Edited in Photoshop
Background images from internet, artist(s) unknown
NOTE: There is an error with the decals, but it was fixed long after I made this post.

Nice! Most STO designs don't appeal to me, but I like this one. And I really like the way you've rendered it, makes it feel not only like a big ship, but it looks almost part-way between a rendering and a painting. I think that's mostly due to the "fuzziness" of the render instead of hard edges.
