Green Lantern movie might reboot

Third time's the charm is probably going to be the case for the Hulk in terms of solo movies in the post-Avengers setting.

The Avengers did a wonderful job with the Hulk and it will help though I don't see them doing an origin story with the HULK since he was in the Avengers and may kind of do a soft reboot/sequel to the last Hulk movie that wasn't too bad. However HULK will not bring in Iron Man/Thor $$$ so the budget will need to be reigned in and not OTT.

Green Lantern was fine. It wasn't amazing or anything, but it certainly wasn't as shitty as random internet people suggest. Hell, if you want to, throw Ryan Reynolds into a Justice League movie and kill him off so a new Green Lantern can take his place. Green Lantern is like Doctor Who; you can kill him and change actors without completely starting from scratch.

Reboot it with the Alan Scott Green Lantern. Alan Scott kick ass.

Just wondering. Would this Alan Scott be the gay version?

I'm laughing at the overreaction by some GL fans at this new development.

I liked the GL when I was into comic books in the 70s. That was the Hal Jordan era. I didn't follow GL like I did Superman, Batman and the Flash so I never really knew there were other Green Lanterns being depicted.

So I guess they could go with a different GL than Hal Jordan but he is my preference.

While I enjoyed Green Lantern, I know I share the opinion that the best parts were the cosmic stuff. The Earth plots were what dragged the movie down. Give us more GLs and get the Sinestro Corps war rolling.

Give us more of Kilowog, other GLs, and especially Mogo.

I agree. I said almost the same thing in another post. The best stuff was away from earth. If there is a GL2 I think it would be best to concentrate on Sinestro et al.

Check out Green Lantern: First Flight.

I thought that was a WAY better GL movie than this one.

You don't even have to kill him off. Look at the DC Animated Universe. Superman: TAS introduced Kyle Rayner as the Green Lantern (giving him Hal's origin and costume, but Kyle's personality), but then Justice League just presented John Stewart as Earth's GL without explanation. We later got a cameo by Kyle revealing that after he'd gotten the ring, he'd been reassigned to Oa for training; implicitly John was the first human GL, many years before Kyle, but he'd been serving as the GL of a different sector until Abin Sur died.

Don't forget that time when Hal Jordan made a cameo in that time travel JLU episode.

Damn, I really miss the JL cartoon. :(

Played by Adam Baldwin, no less, which means that two Firefly cast members have played the role (and three Whedon-series stars, since David Boreanaz played Hal in Justice League: The New Frontier).

Thanks for the tip...I will check it out. It does look good.

I love First Flight. Watching it was what first got me interested in GL. It actually has one of my all time favorite Superhero movie casts, right up there was Avengers and X-Men.

Funny, I read a lot of negative reviews of First Flight, despite enjoying it myself. I will, however say, that Emerald Knights was even better.

First Flight does serve as a template of how to do a Hal/Sinestro movie with other GLs around.

Emerald Dawn II also shows how they could structure the next GL movie, as that comic had Hal teamed with Sinestro to further his training.

I think they'd be best served keeping Hal (sorry, but with him being forefront on the animated series and also pretty prominent in Young Justice, DC/Warner Brothers will push him) and starting the movie with a glimpse of the Book of Oa hitting the major points of Hal's origin, while leaving it somewhat vague as to whether or not this is in the same continuity as the first movie. Yeah, it's a blatant rip-off of The Incredible Hulk's beginning, but it would serve to get Hal's origin shown and allow the movie to start right away without being bogged down in the minutiae of whether or not this is a direct sequel.

That being said, I think they need to re-do Parallax. While the Earth stuff dragged down the movie, the Parallax stuff really took some enjoyment out of it. Perhaps, even leave out the Parallax stuff and find another way to introduce the yellow rings.

What? No he's not, I think he's had maybe one word of dialogue (albeit an awesome one - "No" - when the League considered adding Guy Gardner to their ranks). Certainly no more than John Stewart, and the Lanterns in general are pretty background.

I've not seen the GL movie because the reviews were so bad, I should give it a shot sometime. If they do reboot, and I have no strong opinion either way since I'm sure Reynolds can do a good job, put me in the John Stewart camp.

I agree that this next movie really needs to focus on the Corps. Frankly, Hal Jordan is dullsville. The Green Lantern Corps is the cool part. All these awesome looking aliens working as an intergalactic police force. Of course, we need a human anchor, but (especially after the failure of the last one) it doesn't have to be Hal. John Stewart would work just fine. Not only is he probably better known to most people these days, but also gives some racial diversity to the eventual Justice League movie. Of course, the fanboy in me would love it if they would bring in Guy Gardner, too. Let's get that Sinestro Corps. War going, and give us some epic cosmic action instead of the "one guy fighting a shit cloud" that we got in the first.

John Stewart is more prominent than Hal Jordan in Young Justice. John has had speaking roles in three episodes (played by Kevin Michael Richardson), but Hal's only dialogue to date is "No!" twice in "Agendas" (when objecting to Guy Gardner's nomination as a JL candidate), and he doesn't even have a credited voice actor (it was probably one of the other actors doubling up).

And not just the green one, either. At the very least, have the Sinestro Corps. Perhaps work the Red Lanterns into it as well.

Oh, hell, why not go all out and have all seven Corps-es in it. :)

And I agree that John Stewart would be an excellent idea. That way it wouldn't, technically, even need to be a reboot. They could do a Stewart GL movie without even mentioning Hal, couldn't they?
