Great Moments in TrekBBS History!

Hey, there's nothing wrong with the Wallflowers. Before 1998.

Butcha know....

When threads like this appear, posters often reminisce about the events of a decade ago. The first thing that pops into my head is from a scant two years ago involving one Squiggy, one Madbaggins, and one James Van Der Beek.

Ugh. That post was awesome, but it got me to read the rest of the thread, 29 pages of WTF. Still, I guess reading about christian wrestling, real life uses of the Stone Cold Stunner, and it being one of the most bats&^t crazy stories I've ever read that was supposed to be true was worth the read, even though my mind feels dirty after going through it
Wait... MadBaggins came back and no one told me? Someone failed me here. I could just blame Squiggy like I normally do, but this was a huge oversight and therefore all must suffer. Everyone remember when I did this?:

I've been here on the board for a looong time too. There's been a lot of great moments, I miss Rat Boy who used to run a lot of the caption contests, back when I worked a lot of saturdays, I'd log into the BBS on my break and almost every time, he'd have new contest up to take me out of the dreary work days.

I've seen that others have mentioned those who are no longer with us, after we lost Mallory I was quite proud that so many adopted the "Remembering Ensign Mallory" Avatar in tribute. A lot of class acts on this board.

One of my favorite threads was the "Fail Whale" submission thread, from back in the days when the board would be down for a bit every night. The old T.J. Hooker picture was fun, but a lot of great submissions were put in and I was proud that to of mine were regularly seen. (Of course it meant that the board was down, but it softened the blow)

These were the two:

I remember somebody else here telling the story, perhaps it was a MOD at the time, but a member had been newly made a moderator and he promptly started permabanning other MOD's and other stuff.

Man, I'm glad I wasn't here for that. It sort of reminds me of a Britney Spears photo.

*whack* Precisely! That's it! All the time I've been brooding over what that pic reminded me of and just couldn't put my finger on it.

Silvercrest, there was a recipe exchange here on the BBS?? I must totally have missed that.
I only recall the one at TK. That one started in chat when Sardy, Day and I swapped housekeeping tips and the younger trolls started to roll their eyes at us and said we'd next be swapping recipes. Sardy disappeared for a few mins and when he came back he posted a link - he had in the meantime added "The Troll Kitchen" and started it with a beef teriyaki recipe. The younglings almost freaked out :guffaw:but we oldtimers loved it. I still have the recipes. Day's shrimp stew is pretty good

Shatmandu.

That guy brought the funny and made friends everywhere he posted on this board. One of the all-time great members who's still missed to this day. The place has never been quite the same without him.

I'll never forget how upon my very first post here Bedpan Elemental was on the verge of banning me for being a Che clone. BE claimed my English was too good for a non-native speaker so that I couldn't possibly be German (later I learned that Che wasn't a native speaker either LOL).

I posted my phone number and asked Bedpan to call me to verify that I am myself. Turned out it wasn't necessary as coincidentially I had had a short mail chat with big C himself when I registered (at that time he wasn't deified yet but still quite human and actually talked with people) and presumably he intervened (or someone had the brains to check my IP).

But frankly, that day I wasn't sure whether this board was the cyber equivalent of a loonie asylum or a serious board. Had it not been for my friends from KHCMB who had invited me here, I'd have left instantly.

Meanwhile we all know for a fact that this is an online loonie asylum :D
