Grayson/Robin movie!

When I first heard of this, I thought "Oh shit, just let it go", but after seeing the trailer, I am kind of excited by it.

www.metacafe.com/watch/242410/grayson_aka_robin_movie_trailer/

Just watched, seems like they screwed it up a bit by overloading it - what's Superman doing there, and why is he old?

The concept might work if done right, maybe have Grayson realize that Robin isn't enough without Batman and morph into Nightwing towards the end of the film.

But yeah, I dont know, from the trailer it seems a bit over done to me.

Edit, oh and whats with the Robin costume in the trailer? couldn't they have got something a bit better? Looked like they bought the 1960's series costume or something

I think it is set in the future, ten 15 years or so. Robin is an adult, with a wife and kids, Supes is older, no Alfred around (passed away?) , just a guess though....

This isn't real. It's a fanfilm that has been around for years. (The trailer itself is the fanfilm, there's nothing else.)

I think I'm glad of that. Like I said earlier though the concept might make a good movie if done right.

It's a fake trailer, made by some (highly talented and devoted) fans. It has been around for a while. Still very cool, tho.

Edit: D'ho! Beaten to that!

Every year at DC, I make it a point to go by the vendor's table showing the trailer. It's so good. Finally got a copy of it and the making of Grayson. Good stuff. The guy is really talented.

Isn't it done by the same people who did the World's Finest trailer, and the Batman: Dead End short?

Didn't this thing come out in 2001 or 2002?

And the Catwoman/Selina Kyle actress was Kimberly Page, wife of wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, who filmed this shortly after the demise of the WCW when they had both "retired" from wrestling (Kim led WCW's Nitro Girls).

No. Sandy Collora did those. Grayson was directed by John Fiorella of Untamed Cinema Productions. On the company's website exists the feature-length screenplay for a proposed Grayson film if there was ever desire to do so on a big-budget size scale.

... who actually played the title character. He has a great "Making of" video out there too.

I thought all the "capes" were very well cast. O'Hara, not so much.
I thought Fiorella clearly has some terrific ideas.

Cuz it's the next generation. Also he looks cool.

It's the same costume he used for 45 years. It's the one true Robin costume.

pfegh. Nightwing is temporary. Yes, 20 years is temporary. Dick Grayson will always be Robin.

Well, 20 years in the comic book world is less than a year in "real life".

One issue of a comic book equals 1 day, so a whole year worth of comics is 12 days.....20 years equals 360 day....5 days short of a year.

I believe they chose the 1960s series costumes on purpose. The director must have liked the show and wanted to use this as a semi-sequel.

That's not always true of every comic. It's more of an after-the-fact rationalization for a lot of the main superhero comic lines. At least, that's my feeling. Somebody can enlighten me on its origins.

No. World's Finest and Batman: Dead End were made by Sandy Collora. John Fiorella made Grayson.

I know that this project will never be made as a movie. However, I do wish that DC would work with its writer/creator to allow him to have it made as a graphic novel. It would work wonderfully as an 'Elseworlds' type story.

If I recall correctly too this fanfilm trailer was released about the same time that DC and Warner Brothers said that they would strictly enforce their copyrights if someone attempted a full fanfilm.

Somebody actually thought this was a trailer for a real movie? I don't want to burst any additional bubbles, but Hardware Wars aint coming any time soon either.

Funny how the fan films mentioned here give the official movies a true run for their money.
