I just watched this episode for the first time today, and I was very surprised of my reaction...as I was crying when Tuvok was saying goodbye to Noss. Did anyone else have that reaction?

No, because I'm manly, rugged and rough and have a disturbingly hairy man-arse.

But I do love the episode and enjoyed the time displacement aspect. Lori Petty was perfect as Noss and she managed to be both vulnerable and strong in equal measure not to mention sexy and weirdly convincing as an alien.

Tuvok was the ideal character for the story too. Vulcans fall in love in just the right intense way.

The spiders were good too.

I have always enjoyed the Tuvok/Paris dynamic...in some ways more than Tuvok/Neelix or Paris/Kim. All the episodes that feature them together are among my favorites.

It's funny but during the original airing I never paid any attention to the fact that Paris never told B'Elanna he loved her onscreen (unless you count Course Oblivion) It wasn't until afterwards when I was reading up on old reviews and reactions that I noticed.

Yeah, that just supports my theory that he was never that into B'Elanna. Asked her to marry him when he thought he was going to die, never said I love you, wanted his space from her A LOT and then of course the fact that B'Elanna turned into a depressed, nagging fish-wife due to lack of attention.

LoL.

Although after they were married he apparently gave up the holonovels and his hobbies.... (the times after that when he was seen in the Holodeck was for other reasons such as the operation simulations in Imperfection) and he was with her when she went to met her dad.

But I am sure you will come up with some secret devious agenda behind that because you are just that creative. ;)

Hey, he's clearly committed to the relationship. I'm just saying... some people end up in relationships without really exploring how they got there.

The parallel future in Endgame where they're still together? Yeah, I don't think that's the future they're gonna have (so yet more lives ruined by admiral Janeway).

As a fan of them, I can't resist jumping in here! ;) In "Drive", he actually started to propose before there was any danger to the shuttle. It was after he'd cut the engines and they were having a moment, he said something about "happily ever after", B'Elanna asked how that goes and he said it traditionally started with a proposal, then they got interrupted by the Morse code transmission from Harry about the bomb.

It kind of bugs me that in the 24th century the whole bit about waiting for the man to propose is still in effect and the whole 'last name' thing was silly.

She was nagging about how certain people don't fit. He just wanted to shut her up at that point. The sweet relief of death simply pushed him over the edge.

Star Trek and its hugely conventional, conservative vision of the future again. Heterosexual people having tediously 20th century relationships.

Haha! This is hilarious.

I agree, I think it would've been much more B'Elanna-esque for her to propose to him.

Really like this episode and it features the same actress who was in Orange is the New Black, other than Mulgrew.

I liked this episode. I watch it each time during a run, but really how many times are they going to get sucked into something in this season? Or am I thinking it's a annual thing? :)

Tom and B'Elanna were such a boring couple. I could never understand what either of them saw in the other.

Tom got with B'Lanna just before Seven arrived.

Some guys just have bad luck.

Anal jokes? This early in the morning?

I've missed you.
