Grand Turismo 5(PS3)

OK i don't see a thread so i thought i would start one.

So who is looking forward to this, what version are you getting, are you playing with a wheel, my copy has just been dispatched so it should be here before the end of the week i hope....really looking forward to this game.

I'm only getting the standard version and will be using the normal joypad as the whole wheel thing, although no doubt adding to the immersion of driving game, is far to much hassle for me personally, i just want to sit, grab a joypad and enjoy.

This is the sole reason I'll be getting a PS3 for Christmas. 'Nuff said

I'm not getting a wheel mainly due to budgetary concerns, not because I don't want one.

The PS3+GT5 bundle will set me back enough as it is, even with my grandparents and aunt and uncle chipping in.

My copy shipped from the UK on Monday, so it should be here any day now.

I'm getting the regular version and I'll be playing it with my G25 wheel.

I've heard there are over 1,000 cars modelled in this one, is that true?

I'll just get the standard release - my coffee table is too low for a wheel anyway..

^ Yeah, there are roughly 200 premium cars (more details model, better textures, cockpit view) and about 800 normal cars (lower details, no cockpit view).



Oh and btw, it's Gran Turismo, not Grand Turismo.

If I had a PS3, I think I would get this just so I could run the Top Gear track. Alas I do not, however.

I'm getting it, but I can't help but feel there's no justification as to why it was so delayed. In future, they need to set their goals in pre-production and work towards them, instead of constantly moving the goal line. Now it has some half-baked features that could have been saved for an update or sequel (like the track editor and weather effects)

Just spent the last 5 hours on this, and what a lot of fun it is, the game looks gorgeous, sound is spot on, the handling of the cars are brilliant, Go karting is just so much fun to play.

This game is going to keep me coming back for the foreseeable future there is so much to do in it.

OK a little heads up, i went to create a online room to play online and the game freezes on that screen while trying to connect to the online servers with no way out, and you eventually have to do a hard reset to get your PS3 back, and that will corrupt your saved game and you will lose all your data and have to start again.....so just a heads up to everybody that it might be a good idea to steer clear of online at present.

And yes i know this from just losing my saved game as its no corrupted from having to do the hard reset.....lucky i was not really that far along.

I've been looking forward to this for awhile. Got some track time in on Friday. So far, so good. I really like the racing carts and the tune functions look more detailed than I've ever seen!

The only let down was that my cars and money didn't carry over from Past Prologue. I already had my class A license and over a mil in funds.

Where's the much touted 'realistic' damage modelling (mentioned in the youtube video above)?

I've plowed right into cars/barriers at 200 klicks plus without anything whatsoever in the way of observable or mechanical damage.

EDIT: NM. I just found out you need to unlock it..

I do think it's surpassed in some ways by other racing games, like GRiD and DiRT...

DiRT 2 is awesome. Definitely my preferred PS3 racer.
