Gran Turismo 5 delayed...again.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you! I don't know how Sony lets this continue considering they're dumping tons of money into the game's development and getting nothing in return as long as Polyphony Digital continues to think timelines are beneath them.

My only exposure to GT is that HORRIBLE time trial demo thing they released. If that's representative of the main game, I can see why they delayed it--it was fucking awful compared to Forza *2*.

My friend got me Forza 3 for birthmas despite the fact that I hated Forza 2. Surprisingly, I'm enjoying it so far. The changes they've made really do make the game more non-hardcore friendly and easier to get into. Although I'm not sure I'd call myself non-hardcore considering I play with all assists except ABS off and can only play in the cockpit view in this game for some bizarre reason.

Gran Turismo has some stiff competition, so this delay had better result in the best sim ever.

Its talk of only a month or two so its not to bad, and i would rather the game came out finished than a released full of bugs and looking a mess.

GT5 is going to be the racing game of racing games, looking forward to it.

^You mean it's going to have AI opponents that don't just stick to a predetermined route around the track that they refuse to deviate from even if it means smashing in to the back of your car over and over ?

GT3 and, I'm led to believe, 4 had this problem. The artificial "intelligence" was based mainly on a predetermined best racing line around each track with equally predetermined controls on how fast to go, when to brake etc.

It led to the overall impression that the AI wasn't all that smart, so on corners it would concentrate on doing what the script told it to do even if there was a human player's car in the way. The advantage was, however, that the game didn't have to use up much processor time on AI which it could then use on making the game look pretty.

Other racing games such as Forza and PGR have more intelligent AI drivers.

Well I'm not about to be drawn into a pissing match between F3 vs GT5, I'm looking forward to GT5 no matter who says what, really looking forward to it.

I'm not sure what part of "release date TBA" implies a month or two delay unless Sony/PD has since announced that a month or two would be the case.

Its only the JP release that's been delayed, now its on par with the NA and EU release dates, no doubt Sony have pushed it back to a worldwide release to counter all those grey importers and to not clash with GOW3 hitting the PS3 in March as well in Japan, Sony would be mad to have the JP version of GT5 released at the same time as another big title such as GOW3.

Eh, doesn't matter to me. I'll but it when I have a PS3. And then I can buy a nice wheel, pedals and shifter to it as well. And those are really the only things I miss not being able to use properly in Forza 3, the rest of the game is awesome.

If I want an arcade experience, I'll play Need For Speed or something, but I want a good looking racing sim, I'll stick to the Forza series. I do own GT1,2 and 3, and I think pretty much the only truly exceptional ones (for their time) are the first two.

GT will be exceptionally pretty, it will allow people to drive 89 nearly indistinguishable versions of the Mitsubishi Evo so that they can claim the game contains !!!9,000 CARS!!! or some such nonsense, and it will continue to be a forgiving, ez-mode racer for people easily seduced by flashy menu systems.

They've probably had the engine and AI done for two years and ever since have simply been flogging graphic artists in the back of some sweatshop.

Well i already said to you i was not about to be drawn into yet another long and boring "Any racing game is better vs GT5" fanboy wank feast.

I suggest you actually play the games first before making sweeping statements on comparisons and ingame details without having any first hand knowledge.

^^^How about........"They made sweeping comparisons with a game they have not played, about a game that's not out yet".........yeah that's works.;)

You said it was going to be "the racing game to end all racing games" about a game that's not out yet, we countered with "every other game in the series (including GT5 Prologue) has a certain problem we feel makes it inferior in a particular way". I'm not sure what leg you're trying to stand on.

^^^Oh, so apart from the poster who made sweeping comparisons on how much worse GT5 would be compared to a game they admitted to not playing, your now stating because previous GT games had issue that somehow means GT5 will be inferior.

Well you cant argue with that logic.

But as i already said im not about to be drawn into a fanboy wank fest over F3 vs GT5, if you like Forza 3 good for you, i have it to and enjoy it, and when GT5 comes out i will enjoy it too, but if some feel the burning need to tell everybody how bad it will be then by all means the stage is theirs.
