Spoilers Gotham - Season 2

This show almost approaches the level of camp from the Adam West series. But it gives it a darker tone...more Tim Burton though. Or it's just kinda stupid. Whatever it is I just enjoy watching it.

Oh, Tim Burton's Batman movies were just as campy in their own way. I mean, the second one had an evil circus and an army of mind-controlled penguins carrying missiles. As well as cribbing the "Penguin runs for mayor" plot from the West series.

Okay there was a level I could tolerate

Venom enhanced people okay

Transplanting a man's head on to a woman's body. I ALMOST couldn't tolerate it

Frozen head going through a window of a car.

Tonight's transformation of Boris Karlo to Jim Gordon I could not tolerate.

This show is bordering on the Arkham game's level of absurdity.

Even B.D Wong was channeling Hugo Strange from the games

Oh and Bruce just needs to hit the lights in a sequence to get out of the maze >_>

Who says they're not using the game as source material? I'm not familiar with the game but it's certainly plausible enough.

Just wait until Riddler starts leaving question marks around in hard to reach places.

I have to admit I thought about the games a little bit when Bruce was looking up at the impending poison vents and trying to come up with a solution. Something about the way the shot looked.

Isn't it Basil Karlo? Odd that they're using that version of Clayface, since he was originally just an actor who was a Lon Chaney-like master of disguise. Although he did much later gain the shapeshifting powers of other Clayfaces like Matt Hagen.

They seem to be splitting the difference, his skin is malleable but not to the degree usually associated with Clayface.

He did completely transform into Jim Gordon at the end though, but I guess he could just be changing his outward appearance, rather than the complete transformations the comic version goes through.
I got a big kick out of last night's episode.
I liked the bit we got with Clayface. Is this his first live action appearance?
I loved the return of Fish, and I really hope she gets a better storyline than she got stuck with during the later part of last season. Giving her powers will definitely add an interesting new layer to her character.
I liked the introduction of the Court of Owls here. I haven't read the comics so I really don't know much about them. I'm thinking this must be one of the quickest times we've gotten a new comic concept brought to live action.
I liked Alfred's speech about letting Bruce work with Jim and Lucius, I could see them attitude leading to him helping Bruce as Batman. The part about all of the people helping him also reminded me a bit of some of the issues that have come up with all of the allies Batman's gotten in the comics.

No; he was in an episode of Birds of Prey in 2003, using the same "Feat of Clay" title as his Batman: The Animated Series debut. He was played by Kirk Baltz.

They gave her powers? What powers?

If they're going in a superpowered-villains direction, that's weird for a Batman-inspired series. It was weird when Birds of Prey did it (though that was obviously done to copy Smallville's meteor freaks-of-the-week), and it's even weirder for a show about the cops who fought crime before Batman even existed. I mean, only a few of Batman's rogues are superpowered, like Clayface or Poison Ivy or Killer Croc, or super-weaponed, like Mr. Freeze or Firefly. Usually they're just eccentric, themed criminals.

Well, Batgirl took only a matter of months, since the makers of the '60s TV series asked DC to create her in the comics so they could use her in the show.

Thrilling episode! I squealed seeing the Court of Owls and Clayface. I could care less about the return of Fish Mooney though. I really hope she doesn't make it past the season finale. B.D. Wong is once again delightfully OTT as Dr. Strange.

What's the beef with Fish? :p

Seriously....the eyeball gouging was ridiculous, but other than that it's very good character / very good actress, in my book.

Really enjoy the show. It's the first one I've watched regularly since they cancelled Mike Hammer.:D

I always hated that character. She was just floating around in her own ridiculous show separate from the other actors. She made Penguin look like a subtle performance. And that whole protracted story in the hospital? Ugggggh.

Yeah. Fish has nothing to do with the Batman story, and Jaida chews scenery like she's in a grade school play.

My wife and I both like the character and the portrayal. Maybe the main problem for a lot of folks is too much focus and time spent on the subplots with her when other things could have had more screen time. I can't argue with that.

I thought that for the most part Fish Mooney was awesome. It was pretty obvious that they ran out of story for her and crafted a really lame storyline just to give her stuff to do until the finale. That final plot for her was just awful.

I forgot about Batgirl, but I meant more stuff just created for the comics without it being intended for a TV show/movie.
Didn't they do something similar with Kaldur'ahm in Young Justice?

I love the character of Fish Mooney. Her storyline last season completely went off the rails, but that wasn't due to any problems with the character.

Similar, yeah. The character was created for the show, but because comics can be put together much faster than animation, they were able to introduce an Aqualad character based on the show's version before the show premiered. Ditto with Renee Montoya, who was created for Batman: The Animated Series but showed up in comics shortly before the show aired. But it's not quite the same as the Batgirl situation. That wasn't the show creating a character and the comics adopting them right away, it was the show's producers asking the comics people to create a character that they could then adapt to the show.
