Got me a sonic screwdriver...

The new 11th doc one, the toy. Rather nice detailing for a plastic toy, the size seems about right as well. Makes 4 seperate sounds, two for the sonic, one thats kind of odd, and a kind of fluctuating sound of the sonic (which makes the light up part also fluctuate like its having problems) Spring loaded extending. Only issue is when its in the extended mode, you cant use the main button to activate it. For a toy sonic tho, it works just fine.

does it have any weight to it, or is it plastic?

Probably Plastic, just in case little jimmy throws it at his kid sister's head??

I would like to see a master replica, that lights up and makes the noises and metal.. like they did with the light sabers..though it should be easier with a sonic since it is primarily and large LED light and quality sounds..

A friend of mine got one for her son and said that's it's heavier than the Tenth's Sonic Screwdriver. I saw on Big Bad Toy Store that they have the Third Doctor's sonic screwdriver for pre-order.

It has a plastic weight to it, but from what im told, its actually very slightly SMALLER than the real filming prop. (by 5 millimeters) It has a nice feel to it, tho a really nice high end replica would be nicer.

I've been watchin' Matt Smith's episodes the last few nights...I think I'll stick with my store-bought sonic screwdriver from David Tennant's run. I don't care much for the green light or the angled claws used for the new sonic.

I want a small collection of sonics from the anniversary replica of the 4th doctors, the tennant model, and the Smith version..

those 3 are my favs so far..

Actually I think there is a replica of the tennant model, with metal and an LED light, but it is also a pen..

I think also a Pertwee or maybe Baker version is in the works. I do like the 11th docs sonic, the claw makes it for me. xD

I just got mine and I love it. I guess they made it so large so it shows up better on film. I loved the previous screwdriver but I must admit that it was hard to see during some of the action scenes. Perhaps that is why they made it so large.
The four sounds threw me though. I had to go on Youtube today to find that it had the "hidden sounds".These were not included in my instruction set so when I found this out it was a nice suprise.

More likely, the previous sonic screwdriver was just small. The earlier Doctors had bigger sonic screwdrivers as well, and the current one is almost on par with those in size, IIRC...

Yeah, I discovered those while playing around with it. Thought it was malfuctioning when it made those other sounds...

The "extra" sounds have a tendency to short out the sound board, so go sparingly on them! (the new versions only have the normal 2 sounds)

how much in dollars and an online import store please??

Got mine locally, but check Ebay.

So, yeah...I was up in Round Rock tonight, and the store I was shoppin' at had the the eleventh Doctor's sonic screwdriver...damn thing looked like a sex toy.

What made it even funnier, it was right there next to the tenth Doctor's screwdriver on the shelf...I could just see the sonic envy.

Hasting's in Round Rock.

Willin' to bet Dragon's Lair would have it, too...that's where I bought my sonic screwdriver & psychic paper set last year for Halloween.

Thread got me to digging around in a drawer...Ah ha!

Doesn't have a tricorder attachment, but I still love it. :)

Alright, for the Austinites & those who visit here, I can confirm that you can buy the 11th Doctor's sonic screwdriver at Hastings Books Music & Video (I-35 South, Round Rock), Dragon's Lair (Burnet & Koenig) and Austin Books & Comics (North Lamar & Guadalupe).

I was at all three stores this mornin', they all had it in stock.

Yeah, Hastings is usually pretty good at having the new Who stuff. Even the comic shop I frequent in H-Town, which is an awesome shop with tons of toys and collectables, doesn't carry much of the new Who stuff.

I finally saw the Eleventh's sonic, in a bar on Saturday night of all places. A girl had one in her purse, pulled it out and started playing with it.

It's flipping huge compared to the Tenth's sonic.
