I am used to being misinterpreted. It's a most common human predilection. And since I don't have much of an ego I don't mind giving apologies.
Personally I think smilies are obnoxious. The standard punctuation is more than sufficient.

@Saquist - Regarding the warp field - gotcha... Regarding the secondary hull, I envisaged all of the engineering to be contained in the snout in the primary hull and the hump leading to the secondary hull that ends just before the hangar. The secondary hull I see as being mostly cargo space and machinery space for the hangar and the place to strap on the warp engines... As far as the conduit running close to the exterior, well I don't have any good defense for that, but at some point that conduit has to get to the warp engines and they always seem to be hanging out there... I suppose I could thicken them up but in this case I think design will just outweigh function...
And as for the rest of the debate - wow lol...
Here's some new pics, I didn't get much done in the intervening time, hopefully I get some free time to work on this more than a couple of minutes at a time... I lengthened the lip at the end of the secondary hull and rounded it, started fleshing out the hangar bay (yes adding three parts is called fleshing out)... Added some bits to the end of the warp engines but still deciding on that. On the primary hull reworked the command structure on the top of the deflector snout and added some more sensor arrays on the top of the primary hull. Work continues but I have reached a decision point. Up till now I was going for a scale just slightly smaller than the Enterprise E but the more I look at it, the more I think I'd be happier with a scale closer to the old Constitution class (hence the tiny hangar)... So that's what I'm going to do, so there will be more changes on the way...
And the pics I mentioned earlier...

So how large is this ship? Is that small bump on the primary hull the bridge?

Another good effort. I like seeing people's different interpretations as to the next Enterprise. We all know what the Enterprise-J looks like but it would be fascinating to see a logical progression to that design. I am just spinning wheels here.
I think there's room in storylines for a scenario where they go off in one direction with designs that don't quite work out as well as they'd hoped for, or maybe work for the situation they're needed, but then they reverse course and go with something completely different. Bigger or more complex isn't always newer or better, but the "J" is obviously massive.
Think of the airlines and the 747, and the DC-10, and that Airbus monster plane. Instead of their fleet being filled only with bigger planes, they actually have spent a lot of time developing the twin engined jets for many routes.
So, I can see a trend towards downsizing, which could be a storyline in this dude's Enterprise F (which really seems more like a "G" or "H") if he keeps it small. Then, there's an abrupt turn back towards the BIG starships, with the "I", and then we get to the "J" which represents a breakthrough in technology, or maybe a renewed push for deep-space missions, maybe as generational ships with not merely families, but entire "cities in space" or somesuch.
