Got a new Beagle Puppy this past weekend, nicknamed her "Porthos"!

Her actual name is K.J.(pronounced "Kay-Jay")as a tip of the hat to two my late parents' shared initials but she gets called "Porthos" sometimes with a wink and a nod. She doesn't have the same fur color patterns that Archer's Porthos has but she's close enough and as an adult she'll probably be about the same size as Breezy, the dog that played Porthos on the show. Just wanted to let you guys know I got a six-week-old little beagle and can't help but make Archer and ENT references all the time.:techman:

I know.

Technical complications with my digital camera. But suffice it to say, K.J. looks like a miniature Porthos with more black and brown on her face.

Don't ever get promoted to Admiral and let a promising Scottish enigineer get a hold of the dog! ;)

If she's mostly black with a tiny bit of brown on her rump/tail, eyes and ears, she'll most likely lighten up a lot. Our own beagle's markings didn't get set until he was about a year old, and he looked like he'd be mostly black when we bought him. Tricky colors, those Beagles. ;) You'll want to take lots of puppy photos, because the changes between now and her first birthday is the difference between Bermanga ENT and Coto's :P

Also, she isn't starving when you give her only two cups of food. Beagles love to eat

Have fun!

For those wondering the fate of Admiral Archer's "prized beagle" in the novelization of the movie, he rematerializes onto one of the Enterprise's transporter pads just as the ship is leaving with Kirk in command for the first time.It says noone knows where he came from but of couse Scotty does(and likely very quietly sends him back to Admiral Archer).

[Let's keep the movie spoilers covered up, or in designated Trek XI spoiler threads, until more people have had a chance to see the movie. --HR]

I've noticed. She eats like crazy. I must have burned through at least half of her first bag of Puppy Chow by now. I'm trying like hell to keep her from becoming an overweight furball. I'm tempted to give her a snippet of cheese but I know what dairy can do to some ADULT dogs. So the Archer/Phlox snack treatment isn't an option right now.:p

I thought it was a legal requirement that any new Beagle puppies had to be called Porthos.

Avoid the cheese, for the sake of any carpeting you have, avoid the cheese.

NO CHEESE.

Don't worry.

I was eating a cheeseburger the other night and K.J. was staring at me and whining for some. I was tempted...but at barely seven weeks old or so I don't want to be responsible for a disaster.

Hell, I can barely digest some foods with cheese on them.
