In my experience, 99.9% of the conversations I get into are meaningful, thoughtful, and if I'm lucky, I actually wind up learning something new. I suspect this is why most people of any political affiliation can enjoy being here and engaging in the banter. On rare occasions, political shitstorms do get stirred up, vile things get said and feelings get hurt. And yes, there is a definite political bias to the left here. It is what it is and is the cost of spending time here. If your views are politically and/or philosophically compatible with the majority here, good on you. If not, too bad, so sad. I've had to come to grips with that myself on occasion. Since it's a privately owned forum with an international community, the usual guarantees of free speech don't seem to apply here and politically motivated recriminations (sometimes from mods) do sometimes occur. This doesn't sit well with some people. Again, it is what it is.
