Goodbye Leno/Hello Conan

Conan and Tom plugged Star Trek pretty strongly, which was cool. I can't help but notice that Tom screwed up by saying "The City on the Edge of Tomorrow". :guffaw: He did get quite a few other though so I'll let it slide.

Ha ha, I know. I couldn't believe all the TOS titles Hanks was able to throw out. And the fact Conan knew which one 'A Piece of the Action' was was pretty cool too. :D

As for the new show itself, I'm freakin LOVING it. Yeah Conan's monologues still aren't the best, but at least he keeps them short and sweet (and I've always found it strangely endearing that he's so much more awkward with it than the other hosts). Besides, his pre-taped and other skits more than make up for it. Between Andy's hilarious "construction" video, the Rodeo Road bit, and the meteor, the Tonight Show hasn't been that gut-bustingly hilarious in years.

I mean, Jay was a damn likeable guy... but "Headlines"??? Are you kidding me? With a huge staff of comedy writers, that's the best they could come up with? lol

You kidding, they are both trek nuts. Remember when Conan sent Triumph the insult comic dog after the star wars line.

Apparently I fell asleep early again, what is this Tom Hanks meteor bit?

Seen the first two so far and I am loving it! Damn I've missed Conan! Now if they could just clarify who the hell will be airing him here in Sweden...

The show is pretty good. A lot like Late Night but now an hour earlier.

The only problem is that I have to be really quick with the remote control because Jimmy Fallon's disaster of a show comes on right after. Do not want.

Yeah, so far it's been very "Late Night" and hasn't felt too watered down.

I've noticed that Conan doesn't seem to launch into his very goofy voices quite as often but I'm not sure if that's true or just because I'm looking for things and noticing something that really isn't any different.

Yes change over to CBS as soon as possible!

I wonder when he's gonna take the desk out for a drive in LA...

They can do so much more with that HUGE set. Awhile back there was a behind the scenes clip

Conan sped away in golfcart

They can update the desk driving skits with the golf cart and green screen in the back.

Conan- That's right Andy, it's time to take another trip around Universal Studios!

If anyone cares, this is with Richard Roeper had to say about Leno:

Now that Conan O'Brien has taken over the reins at the "Tonight Show" and Jay Leno is gearing up for his move to prime time, I wanted to share a few personal thoughts.

It's been my good fortune to meet dozens of major TV and film stars over the last decade-plus. Nearly all were gracious; a couple were jerks. I was on Conan's show, and he seemed like a nice guy. But nobody has been classier than Jay Leno.

When I first started doing guest appearances on "The Tonight Show," I had a comfort level because I was walking out there with the great Roger Ebert and I was made to feel at home by Leno and his terrific staff. The backstage atmosphere is professional and efficient, but also laid-back and friendly. (An added touch: the "Jay Bar," a cart loaded with tasty beverages and treats. The guy manning the cart would stop in the dressing room, uncap a Heineken and wish you a good show. You'd find yourself wondering how you were teleported to this moment.)

When Roger was sidelined and we were looking for guest hosts on "Ebert & Roeper," Leno stepped up and did the first show. He had nothing to gain by this; it was a personal favor, done out of respect to Ebert and the program. We taped the show on a makeshift set across from "The Tonight Show" studios. I've never worked with anyone who was less demanding.

Backstage at "Tonight," Leno would stop by in jeans and a denim shirt to offer his opinion on the latest guest host or any small touch we had added to "Ebert & Roeper." He'd try out a joke or just talk about the events of the day, as if we were sitting around in somebody's living room. Sometimes it would be mere minutes before the start of the show before Jay would dash off to put on the suit and start his monologue.

All the best to Jay in his move to 9 p.m. CST come September.
