Goodbye Leno/Hello Conan

That first bit especially is pure Conan. Loved Brokaw especially!
I can't wait to see Conan tomorrow. I'm happy he's on earlier and hopefully that means I'll be able to catch his show more often!
It's funny, Brokaw not only made this appearance in Conan's first show, but in Dave's CBS debut. Tom walked out on stage in the middle of Dave's monologue, took a few cue cards from the stagehand and said, "These last two jokes are the intellectual property of NBC," and walked off stage to Paul and the band playing the NBC Nightly News theme song.

As I've understood it, Brokaw took some heat for this appearance.
I was in my teens when Carson was finishing up his run and I never cared for him. I always preferred it when Leno was guest hosting.
Anyhoo, I'm watching Conan right now. For a second or two, I thought they were gonna open the show with an "I hope you're better than Leno" bit. What we got was good though. I also liked that he kept his old theme from Late Night. Now for the big surprise... Seeing Andy Richter. I didn't know he'd be back with Conan on a regular basis. Looks like he'll be juggling a TV career while doing Conan's show.
I found myself missing Joel announcing him but the skits seemed like good ol' Conan material. I wonder if Andy and Max will continued to be downplayed, if so I'll miss that and like La Bamba and so on. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here.
My favorite bit was during the opening montage, when Conan ran across Wrigley Field right in the middle of a Cubs game.

Agreed. And that's exactly what I was hoping for.
I'm no fan of Will Farrell, though. Oh well. And that set is gorgeous!
Great to see Andy, Max, and all the old band members. I didn't know Andy was going to be on the Tonight Show, so that was a great surprise!
Mr. Adventure, I wouldn't worry about Andy and Max being downplayed at the beginning. The first week or so will be spent establishing Conan to a new audience. Once things settle down, they'll get their fair share of sketches.

I think NBC is counting on all the "people who get the joke" that watched him in college through the 90s growing up and watching him in this earlier time slot. Leno did very well among middle-aged viewers, a lot of them may be better served with his new show and earlier time slot as well as they get older.

My only disappointment is Conan's now on the west coast and not the east anymore. NYC needs Conan to bring the Tonight show here.
I grew up on Dave in the 80s, and while he certainly has mellowed over the years, I still enjoy watching him. His hassling Bryant Gumbel and the Today show via bullhorn out the windows of 30 Rock was classic.
I like Conan and look forward to seeing how he'll transition. I never watched much of Jay, but I used to look forward to his appearances on Dave's Late Night. Definitely a classy guy, and I'm curious to see what (if anything) will change at 10:00. If he just continues doing mostly the same show, I guess NBC will simply have basically just shifted their nighttime schedule up an hour, and swapped a title.
The real late night energy is Craig Ferguson, absolutely hilarious. I don't know that I believe him though when he says he's given up drugs. Nobody has that much energy.
I also like Jimmy Kimmel, but there's only so many hours in the day. I've seen him in more stuff off his show than on. In fact, I think Jimmy Kimmel Live is my favorite show I've not actually watched.
