I'm fascinated that Avatar soared its way into the Best Picture-Drama category. I think that the race for Best Picture-Drama will solely focus between Avatar and Precious, with Precious being the underdog that could slide in and steal the award away from Avatar. I haven't seen either film yet so I can't comment on the quality of each, or what is more deserving. I still really want to see Up in the Air, which could sweep in and take the award from both of them. In fact, the only movies that I've seen out of the Best Picture-Drama category yet are The Hurt Locker and Inglourious Basterds, both great films however neither I think deserve merit or consideration.

I'm very happy (500 Days) of Summer crept its way into the Best Picture - Comedy or Musical category and I'm very positive that it will end up winning that award. I've only seen one other film in that category -- The Hangover -- and while I enjoyed it greatly, it pales in comparison to (500 Days).

Any thoughts on this year's nominations?

I question the nomination for January Jones of Mad Men. She's just too robotic or expressionless on the show.

The Best actor in a T.V. Drama category is a joke without Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad.

I agree. But Michael C. Hall should win (as should Dexter - if that boring-ass Mad Men wins instead, I'm gonna grab me a framing hammer and head for Hollywood). Why the heck was cheesy Simon Baker nominated?

Other oversights: Breaking Bad and Lost should have been nominated for Best Drama; boot House out of the category (has devolved into melodrama). Katey Sagal should have been nominated for Best Dramatic Actress for Sons of Anarchy. Best Supporting Actor is always a full category, but I hate to see no nomination for Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad.

I think I love you.

I agree with everything (I got rid of Lost), but if John Lithgow doesn't win for his role on Dexter I'm gonig to be so pissed. OK not really because their award shows are a joke, but he deserves it. He could go from being a "normal" everyday guy to a CRAZY killer to a child so well. I was never against Dexter but never a die hard fan. I missed a lotof season 2 and all of season 3, but John Lithgow in season 4 brought the show up to a new level.

Anybody else feel District 9 got snubbed? I haven't seen Avatar yet but if it beat District 9 to sole scifi best picture nominee on unjustified ground, wouldn't be sure how i would feel about that.

I hope Fantastic Mr. Fox wins its category, it was just so thoroughly entertaining, however I enjoyed Up immensely. The first 15 minutes of that movie was heart-wrenching to watch with my wife to be honest.

NO ONE can put characters on film (live or animated) and have them say absolutely nothing to such a great effect as Pixar does. They are genius personified. But Pixar nominations and wins are almost gimmes at this point, and I thought Fox was the kind of film we need more of. The voice acting was superb, I don't think there's anyone in Hollywood who makes career choices like George Clooney, he's a man of the craft not the celebrity.

yes!:klingon: also no noms for any of Princess and the Frog's tunes. I kinda liked them...

Agree that Aaron Paul should have been nominated for best supporting actor.

In comedy, Jim Parsons for best actor, and Big Bang Theory are oversights.

Jeffrey Donovan of Burn Notice shares one thing with House and The Mentalist: Without the star's performance, there is no show.

Kings was way too odd to be acceptable, but it had some crackerjack performances that should have been nominated. Ian McShane for best actor, Susanna Thompson for best supporting actress and Sebastian Stan for best supporting actor.

John Noble for best actor would be reasonable tribute. Without his performance, Fringe would be unwatchable crap.
