Didn't see a thread for Minus one, so here we go!
So, Out in (American) theatres in the original klingon ( NOT Dubbed) Since 11-29-23.
First thought it was a "special" showing for 1 night, but it is out there alteast all week/ weekend long.
My thoughts? It was Awesome! Critics were right, it was great, best one I've seen, And i've seen 80's on up.
It was quite well written with alot of characters you really end up caring for, the main character was a kamakaze pilot that decided not to, and landed on a island for "repair" and of course thats where Godzilla was, but not as large.. maybe big T rex size, and it decimates the garrison.
He goes back home to Tokyo and its.. well Fucked.. alot burned down. He meets a woman and a baby, Baby is not hers, kinda found it after a raid. and they stay at Koichi ( main character) spot.
fast forward, Koichi encounters Godzilla in big form, and discovers it has the Japanese version "Regeneration" when he exploded a mine in its mouth.
Fast forward again, Noriko gets a job in Ginza, and low and behold Godzilla attacks Ginza, and does so in a quite Explosive way ( Slight upscale of its atomic breath.. small tactical nuke upscale..)
Koichi tries to save Noriko, but Noriko pushes Koichi into an alley and ... well.. does a feather impersonation in a hurricane and flys off..
Forward again, Government isn't going to do jack crap, so a volunteer force is formed to try to Sink Godzilla into a trench using air bubbles ( Think back to Mythbusters..) and then rapidly rise it with blow up balloons.
Koichi want to fly, and they find a FREAKING SHINDEN!!! WOO!
Forward again, Godzilla attacks and Koichi lures it to the trench area, and the bubbles work, and the balloons work, but have to give a final heave ho for him to surface, and right before it fires its atomic breath, Koichi rams the shinden in its mouth and explodes.. "killing Godzilla" Strangely, a non typical japanese thing of he ejects.. and survives..
and super surprisingly Noriko survives as well, but with a "Radiation burn"
and of course, Godzilla survives in the closing seconds regenerating in the trench.
SO!
Good movie, Think Noriko will be able to talk to Mothra next movie, Oh Yes.. there will be another one
