God

 Catholic Irish. And yea, kinda jealous. *oh, my knees!*

We (Presbyterian church) stand up and sit down stand up and sit down stand up and sit down stand up and sit down...a lot. I sometimes find it tedious, but I guess I should be grateful!

And I've learned a new word, or at least the correct definition of an old word today, so I'm grateful for that, too.

I remember hearing a "God" somewhere in "Errand of Mercy" last night. And I know it wasn't McCoy because he's not in that episode. Hmmm. Can't remember who said it.

At the end, Spock says, "Captain, it took millions of years for the Organians to evolve into what they are. Even the gods did not spring into being overnight. You and I have no reason to be embarrassed."

To genuflect is kneeling. It's the word for it, referring to worship or service.
Originally, yes, but in modern usage it's almost exclusively used to mean a brief bow on one knee, as before a superior, as a sign of respect.

In the episode “Superstition,” Kirk prays, “Dear God, please help me to destroy all gods so that man can learn to stand on his own two feet.”
Or did I dream that?
