God

How many times was God mentioned in TOS?

I can think of three:

Who Mourns for Adonais?
The Ultimate Computer
The Omega Glory

Others?

Well, in "Metamorphosis", the Companion admits she can't create life because that is for "the Maker of all things"?

In "The Empath", one of the dead reasearchers in the log playback quotes from the Bible, and the other comments on it.

Also in "Balance of Terror", the female phaser specialist that is getting married genuflects in the ship's chappel.

Where No Man Has Gone Before references both singular and plural notions of "god," though perhaps in a secular way. Are witnesses sworn in during Court Martial and The Menagerie?

I think she's actually found kneeling, too - presumably in prayer. That's certainly what it's supposed to look like.

To genuflect is kneeling. It's the word for it, referring to worship or service.

The pine tree wall forms in the chapel of Balance of Terror are a Christian symbol. The Christmas tree. Does that count?

^ Oh, I'm sorry. I thought "genuflect" meant that little observance made before you sit down in a pew or leave the sanctuary. I'm a Protestant, in case you can't tell. ;)

That's what I thought to. When you walk down the ilse and do the quick kneel before the altar before you find a seat I thought that was genuflecting.

All I know is that if God is not in the new film, I am so going to boycott. I don't know how exactly how I'm going to do that, but I'm sure I'll think of something after I see the movie.

Stop going to Church? Wait, are you boycotting the movie or God?

The Final Frontier? :)

Not a part of TOS, tho'.

Who's that, Noonien Soong?

Humans produce new life all the time. It's called having kids. If Dr. Soong chose to make his out of used blender parts, leave him alone. At least Data can never get a sunburn. :p

I considered making that joke. "What I'm going to do is produce an entirely new life form, never seen before in history, completely human-made... all I need is a volunteer from the audience.":bolian:

I remember hearing a "God" somewhere in "Errand of Mercy" last night. And I know it wasn't McCoy because he's not in that episode. Hmmm. Can't remember who said it.
