Goat arrested for armed robbery

Miss Chicken

Little three legged cat with attitude
Admiral
Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.
Vigilantes took the black and white beast to the police saying it was an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into a goat to escape arrest after trying to steal a Mazda 323.
"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.
"They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat.

Rest of story here

I hope that this goat doesn't think he is a bigger criminal than my cats are. My cats are totally evil.

Not sure if my cats would steal a Mazda.

There's some witty comment to be made here, but I'm speechless at the moment. What modern police force believes in black magic and arresting goats?

Why do I think that people are going to milk this one for all that it's worth.

I first read the title as "Got arrested for armed robbery" and seeing the name Miss Chicken as author, I was seriously flabbergasted.

Why a goat? Why not a lion or an elephant or a gorilla? I bet those cops would have a problem finding a cell for one of those.

Why a goat? Because an animagus can only change into one specific animal, and of course goats (especiallly bi-colourd ones) have an association with black magic. I want to know how they're planning to prosecute. Will it bleat guilty?

According to the article a police spokesman said

"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat."

So I guess he is saying that th goat will not be prosecuted until it can be proven scientifically that a human being can turn into goat.

Maybe the goat is actually in protective custody.

It was wearing a billygoat beard disguise! Devious bastard! I'm tired of being Feta line of youknowwhat about these faux Angorans!

I vaguely remember reading an article at the back end of last year about 3 or 4 goats being held on trial for some kind of crime. I think the judge released them and they were returned to their farmer - who really needed them home to help feed the family.

There was one story about a European country (I want to say the Netherlands, but I'm not certain) where a guy accused of bestiality was exonerated because the ewe involved refused to testify against him.
