Glee: Season 3 Discussion/Premiere preview clip

Enlighten me. I await more examples of older women having orgies with the football team, statutory rape and teacher fucking.
You've already been proven wrong. Deal with it and move on.
Partially wrong, which I copped too. After all there was no pedophilia or statutory rape. (Puck is the age of consent) The "examples" tended to focus on a single character ( who's raison d'etre is "man whore") and a guest star in a single episode. No teacher fucking either. ( unless you mean teacher on teacher) Was the orgy shown, mentioned or just implied? As I've sadly demonstrated, I don't have the details of every episode memorize. Guess I don't hate the show enough for that. ;)

I found the rape.

Puck is a year older than all the 17 year olds he's been sleeping with.

(Although as mentioned the age of consent in Ohio is 16.)

Just like Selena Gomez could be jailed for what she's doing to Justin Bieber in the real world.

That scene with Blaine and Finn is what I've been waiting for since Blaine joined the New Directions. Now I feel like he's going to actually be integrated into the group. I hated that they just used him as Kurt's boyfriend for a while.

Then perhaps you should be more careful about how you use words like "ignorance" in the future. It just makes you a hypocrite.

And no, finding one character in particularly completely repugnant and beyond salvation, or accepting that the show's weakness for its inability to maintain its own storylines doesn't mean someone hates the show. What a weak and pathetic argument.

Having just fast forwarded through the current episode (a new one for me and not a good sign for Glee) the song selection was so so.. most i really didn't care about but Jackson Fives' "ABC" and Michaels' Man in the Mirror were awesome and i liked the final song too though i don't know it (another original song?).

Apparently they've resolved the villainous streaks in some characters (especially Quinn) and i can only hope that they don't go down that path again because it was unappealing as heck.

I hope Glee returns to the fun of season 1 and 2 and to me it seems they are taking steps in that direction.

At least as entertaining as the episode itself was clueless writers Matt Hodgson (who already was not exactly in the good graces of the show's lesbians fans after last week) and Michael Hitchcock completely stepping in it on Twitter by falsely claiming that Brittany and Santana had already kissed, and insulting the people who were saying otherwise, then apologizing after being called out, then deleting all the tweets.

Ugh, these morons.

With all the negativity in this thread lately, I almost feel bad writing anything good about the show, and last night I kind of had mixed reactions to it. I mean after last week saying how much I loved the episode, I couldn't help but agree with all the naysayers about various things, and aknowledging all of Glee's faults, despite liking it. Actually, I think not only am I comparing the show to Heroes and the "Years that suck after the first year excellence" syndrome, I might also compare this show to 24, in that while there are so many good things about it, there are so many repititious things about it and the writing leaves a lot to be desired. Despite that, you kind of ignore it and go with the flow, which is exactly what 24 was past season 4.

Anyway, as for last night's episode, I think my mixed reaction comes because they wrapped up everything in this episode. Quinn's insanity? gone. Integrating the troubletones back into New Directions? Check. Blaine and Finn's conflict? Resolved. There were some of these storylines that felt wrapped up way too easily and I think the common criticism on this board (Which talking about shows like CSI or TNG) is along the lines up these stories "Tied up in a nice bow at the end of the hour." It felt like the writers decided to say "these storylines really do suck, so let's wrap them up as neatly and tidy as possible and move on to more sucky storylines". Even the one with Mike and his Father and that conflict that I've enjoyed this season felt too easy.

I'm being negative but I actually did like the episode. The music was great (this was the best New Directions sectional performance of the series) and I actually noticed how much Rachael really does hold everyone else down. Tina got to sing finally, and she did a hell of a job with ABC. Mike was the same way and man when he's not doing humorous silly stuff, he's a very good singer. It was also nice to see Sam come back and their rendition of Red Solo Cup was tolerable, even if I still hate the song.

I will also say I do hope they carry the theme of enjoying 16 through the rest of the season. This is a storyline for a group of high schoolers that can fit for this show and allows the writers to dial it back some. Don't be cute, just be simple. If we get episodes with that theme and quality and various questions that go with it in the back half of the season, I think I will be happy. I don't mind conflict, but some of the stuff this season (Like Puck and Shelby) have been so creepy and so off the wall that I really do hope the writers dial it back and let it be a show set in High School again. I think last night took some steps to doing that, and like I've been all season, I'm cautiously optimistic.

I still feel the show was at its best when it focused on the adult characters. The show lost its appeal when Will, Teri, and Emma were reduced to supporting characters. I even miss Ken Tanaka.

And I just remembered I never commented on the fact that coach Bieste was a virgin... you mean there are two high school teachers Will is friends with that are virgins? What?

You don't like the new directions?

Or the "Nude Erections"?

Try pronouncing both versions.

And I don't mind them wrapping up these crap storylines with an easy out and a bow, if it'll let them get back to a good show. Let Quinn et al "see the light." Maybe they're finally growing up and realizing this is their last chance to enjoy childhood. I don't mind tha storyline--everyone getting ready to close down the old and move on.

 I'd rather be ignorant of details of TV show than the actual meanings of words.

Mmhmm. Convenient how your stance has changed after being proven so painfully wrong.

Oh, and hand picking which definitions you want to use and the common vernacular of a word simply because you don't care for them doesn't make you an intellectual. It makes you an elitist jerk and, as demonstrated beautifully in this thread, a blatant hypocrite.

Why, oh why, did the girls bring Sugar Motta with them when they returned to New Directions?

Maybe she learned to sing or dance? Either that or it was part of the convincing to bring Mercades, Santana and Brittney back.

Sugars dad is paying Shelby's wages.

And he's bankrolling the budget for the Troubletones costumes, and travel expense and...

If Will was an asshole, he'd have an opportunity here, because how can he accept Shelby as his "assistant coach" if she is A over-qualified, and B probably being paid at least twice as much as he is, and does Shelby have to take other classes if the school isn't paying her directly? Is she a teacher, an independent contractor or a volunteer?

Actually, if Shelby is a Volunteer, and not a teacher, there's less to little to stop her screwing Puck? I mean, other than self respect and a modicum of decency.

We've already seen her dance; she's better than most of ND (and all the boys other than Mike). And she can apparently at least harmonize well now, since she was in the all the TroubleTones songs.

OK...while I LOVED the music and the 'Glee TV Christmas Special' I have to ask something: Did the writers completely forget that both Rachel and Puck are Jewish? Rachel was yammering on about 'Christmas presents' when I thought it was pretty clear she was Jewish? Shouldn't it have been Hanukkah presents at least?

I'd been listening to the soundtrack on Spotify for the last week and I'm amazed they fit nearly every song from the album in the one hour episode. I thought they did a good job giving everyone a share of the spotlight throughout the songs too, which is nice.
