The most insidious show of the season returns tomorrow and I can't wait. I've been watching some of the older episodes on Fox all summer, listening to the songs, and now we're going to get new material. Already heard the first song and looking forward to more.

Of course the biggest news this summer isn't the premiere episode, but the episode coming next week featuring Brittany and Britney (Spears). That's going to be fun.

After a tough loss at regionals, the glee club returns as the underdogs of McKinley High; Mr. Schuester pushes the students to recruit new members; Rachel and Finn disagree on new recruits.

And Empire State of Mind in all the Cheesy Glory:

I must admit to ashamedly looking forward to this. However, "Empire State of Mind" has to be my least favourite song released in a long time, so that's not a good start!! Still, I'm enjoying the possibility of new material.

Glad to have the show back. Not a big Britney fan, but the advance word on that episode has me anticipating it the most, oddly enough.

Way looking forward to the premier. Got friends coming over and we're gonna watch the Season 1 finale first.

But Empire State of Mind? Wow, that song sucks. I couldn't even get through all of it.

This is all my daughter has been talking about. She's been counting down on her FB page.. I'm doing my darnedest to think of a way to make her think she's going to have to miss it.. Bwahahahahahaha!

This show is my biggest guilty pleasure. I like it when they focus on the adults, though.

Hopefully you mean Britney Spears. Brittany (Heather Morris) slowly turned into one of the best characters last season. I'm looking forward to more of her one liners, which is reason enough to be filled with anticipation for next week.

Yeah, I meant Britney; her music is okay (can't say I didn't think some of those videos were smoking when I was in school), but nothing special.

"Mike tries to be into the things that I'm into...like his abs."

Solid premiere overall; the songs apart from "What I Did For Love" and "Listen" weren't especially interesting when I listened to them just as audio, but, as usual, the live performance added considerably to the others.

I liked the Finn/Artie friendship stuff; platonic relationships apart from Kurt and Mercedes frequently don't get a lot of focus on the show.

Next week looks sexcellent.

There wasn't anything earth shattering about this episode but I still enjoyed it. Nothing cures a rough day like ending it with a new episode of Glee.

This episode felt like a cross of what happened during the summer and the new season, kind of a fill in the blanks thing. Tina and Artie no longer together, Santana with the boob job and Quinn getting her old life back. It was nice, and got the season going in the right direction. I really liked the new characters of Sunshine and Beiste. The stuff with Will and Sue were funny, if quite awkward. Both stories ended predictably, but this is Glee, Predictibility is given a whole new meaning. I am struggling to like Rachael. I know that's her character, but did they soften her in the back nine last season? She seemed back to her Diva self from the first 13 and it's going to take some time to get used to. Again, Sue and Brittany had some hilarious lines and I'll probably watch the episode again this weekend to get them. Everything Brittany says is laugh out loud funny.

Other than Listen and the last song (Who was the original artist because I really liked that song), the music wasn't all that great, but like CaptainCanada said, the live performance affects them a lot. I didn't see a "Don't Stop Believin'" in this episode, which is a little disappointing because it was the premiere and I thought they would do something really special to let people know that New Directions was back.

This episode really did one thing. Set up the stories for the season and things to keep an eye on and make me look forward to it every week. I hope the show doesn't suffer a sophomore slump like Heroes.

Actually I think the ending song kind of meant Rachel was telling the truth and it wasn't about her being out-diva'd that she got rid of the other singer. She finally has friends that she feels ok with and was worried about it being taken away or perhaps that they wouldn't tolerate her anymore if there was someone better.

BTW, I really wish Charice was joining the show instead of the blonde guy. I guess it would throw the show off the axis if Lea Michelle was not the best singer in Glee though.

Agreed. Artie is one of my fave characters. With this episode reminded me how I was similar to him (as I couldn't play rugby league in high school either). Looking forward to next week. The episode was good.

Just watched the episode. Loved it. Though there was no Emma goodness! :(

Sue was, always, phenomenal. Definitely looking forward to next week.

Yeah where was Emma. I hope she's still part of the cast. Kind of weird they introduce a new season and Emma is nowhere to be seen.

Especially after the ending to Season 1

Emma's back next week and we'll meet her dentist.

Re: Glee Season 2 Premiere - "Audition" - Discussion & Grading & Spoil

...played by John Stamos, which is hilarious given the potshot the show took at him last year.

Re: Glee Season 2 Premiere - "Audition" - Discussion & Grading & Spoil

Murphy and Stamos are apparently old friends (the former once pitched a show about the latter as a male prostitute), so I'm guessing that was a friendly jab.

Though it's still funny, especially given that Emma was the one who said it.

I really liked the opening episode a lot. Boy, Lea Michele was looking good with the bangs. And boy did Charice effortlessly out sing Rachel in the bathroom scene. Love Rachel. She is so messed up, but rather lovable.

But here is what I don't get about the show; why can they not find some guys who have great voices? Among the women the voices range from good - Santana and the Asian girl - to great, Lea and Amber. The guys though are generally average voices. At times Kurt rises above and possibly Artie, but Phin, Puck - average.

The new guy, the blonde dude - when they showed him singing in the shower I thought the story was going to be that Phin recruits him based on his enthusiasm and because there just aren't any other guys who want to join the club even though the guy can't sing. But they (TPTB) apparently did think he could sing. His voice was as weak as Phin's and Puck's. Makes me think that the gay guy who runs the show is casting it the way a straight guy would cast female parts - looks over real talent.

Anyway, Hoping for some more appearances by Charice later on in the season with Vocal Adrenalin.

More Santana, please, singing and acting.
