"Glee" gets a third season - before the first is even over

It's like the anti-Firefly.

The current cast are all sophmores currently, which theoretically would mean that they'd all graduate at the end of Season Three. If the show lasts that long, will be interesting to see if they end it there or try something else.

They're adding new students for season 2, so that's already in the works. As for season 3, by then hopefully they will have the "next generation" in place.

Wait, what? They're all sophomores? I"m pretty sure at least some of them were seniors. Puck, for instance.

From all appearances, they're all in the same year. Certainly, they're all back next season.

I'd be doubtful that they'll do that; apart from Degrassi, shows have generally followed the kids, rather than the school setting.

I seriously doubt sophomores would be "ruling" (even if not so much now) the school. That includes Puck, Finn, and Quinn at the very least. Oy. I'm also pretty positive that it was their final year earlier in the season. I think Rachel herself might have been the one to say it.

We've seen Finn, etc. in classes with the other kids who are established as being sophmores.

I agree that it makes sense some of them should be older, but this show has always played fast and loose with the timeline (Finn's dad supposedly died in Desert Storm, which doesn't fit at all). And for practical reasons, they're not going to be getting rid of anybody.

Well, it does sound cheaper to produce than Firefly. ;)

I haven't seen it, but it's nice to hear of a non-cop/lawyer/doctor show doing well for a change.

I think i just felt my camp gene do "Jazz Hands".

My little guilty pleasure!

Hugo - thinks Britney's cat is reading his diary too!

I'm hoping they won't do the one season= one year thing. Just keep the current cast in highschool forever.

Right, who cares about the timeline? They could do one season=one year and still keep them all in High School for 8 years if they want. The worst thing shows with a High School setting can do is getting rid of the High School setting just because the kids graduate.

It's TV, no one cares that TV cops solve a murder case every week or that everything that's funny or dramatic always happens to the main cast. TV shows are unrealistic by definition, because if they were truly realistic they would be boring as hell and no one would watch. So why should anyone care that a bunch of actors that were already too old to be in High School when they shot the pilot never graduate?

So strange... my 17 yo son couldn't miss an episode last year, such an avid fan was he. This year, he can't stand the show any more.

^ I've actually found that it hasn't been quite as good since it returned from the winter break. Certainly not near as many download-worthy songs. :D

And I still find it hard to fathom that this is still Season 1. It feels like the show has been on for ages! :D

Ignoring the timeline worked fine in That 70's show, so it could work here as well.

I haven't seen Glee, though.

Its this generations version of FAME. My wife/daughter love it, but I dont think its going to be around much longer. FAME fizzled out too (thank God)
