Trailer:
I don't know. I didn't need a sequel after the brilliance that is the original Gladiator but i'm open to good sequels ( experience just taught me to lowball my expectations).
This trailer doesn't fill me with confidence. It looks too much like the quintessential blockbuster, full of gigantic setpieces, huge, epic battles and some big name stars attached. However can its story and characters hold up like they did with the original movies?
I have my doubts - it seems like a rehash of the original plotline. Main character gets betrayed, people he loved killed and he fights his way up the ranks while getting entangled in the politics of others until he gets his revenge ( most likely).
The movie just seems too much. I'm sure it will look awesome on a big screen in a theater movie but i sincerely doubt it'll be able to replicate the heart of the first one and bring out oscarworthy acting like it did with Crowe and Phoenix.
