Glad I dont live in france!

When did France ban proper personal hygiene, is what I'd like to know.

If France imposed a ban on being a douchebag, there'd only be six people left in the goddamned country. And they'd be Scandinavian.

HEY! Be nice to the French. My best friend is French!

Aside from having to give up my firearms and learn French, I'd love to live there - they seem much more keen on civil liberties and keeping the government in its place than America of late... or of old, for that matter. Alas, there doesn't seem to be any one perfect place for me on this Earth.

As for Abu Musab - feh. Despire the ill-founded mockery of French toughness that gets slung around so much that it has lost all meaning, the French are more than capable of defending themselves from all comers. I wouldn't worry. Good on them for going secular and doing away with the burka - an abhorrent symbol of one of the cruder and more backward aspects of the muslim faith. If hard-line muslims want to live in a progressive nation they're going to have to deal with progressive secular laws.

My sole experiences with France is as a tourist.. once in the Normandy/Bretagne region and once over New Years in Paris.

Learned much there.. they have "surprise eggs" (egg shaped chocolate which you can open to reveal a small container with a toy) the size of your head, clichees are true (every 2nd french person i saw had a baguette under their arm) and it would be suicide for a non-Parisian to drive a car there.

Otherwise i really don't care too much about them.. too socialist for me.

How to disregard an ancient culture in one facile political cliché.

*shrug*

In 1940 when the nazis rationned soap.

Yeah, I love you too.

I think there's two reasons for that:
a) french bread is delicious
b) all other food is expensive

and ontopic: meh, who doesn't "al-qaeda" threaten with killing etc., it's not like they need a reason for blowing shit up.

I've never been there, but I plan on it.

Isn't Jean Reno like huge in France? That alone makes them pretty cool people IMO

When in Rome, Muslims...
When in Rome...
Adapt a bit to local customs...

Rome is in Italy, not France. Look at a map!

;)

Or just keep breeding until they become the majority, which, combined with immigration, probably will happen. Then bye-bye progressive secular laws.

Someone recently posted somewhere* that muslim countries' birthrates are decreasing corresponding to the increased education of women. Similarly, when they move to a secular country, their birthrates normalise within one or two generations.

*I can't be arsed to go and find it.

Would make sense though..

My mother has 8 siblings.. i'm her only son.

Once women get some freedom and a mind of her own they realize that there's more to life than being a breeding machine and the cleaning lady/cook. They also realize that having a job on their own gives them the power to tell her abusing husband to fuck off and live for herself if it comes to that.

Now don't jump on me because you assume i'm talking about muslim culture and that the men there are all wifebeaters who exploit their women. It is the same with all cultures.. once women are able to stand on their own the birthrate drops significantly.

 I should start to collect all my grocery and restaurant bills just to prove you wrong.

c) The average French buy a fresh baguette every day.

He's well known of course.

And it's not what is happening. The 2nd and 3rd generations are a lot more secular than the 1st generation and they have 2.5 children like everyone ;)

I think the Burkha thing is a big misstep for the French, but generally I love the place. Great food, wine, scenery, people and arts.

France would be a very nice place to live. I'll take miraclefan's place. I expect the French won't mind all that much.

Yeah, they've threatened most European countries by now. When it's not Burkas, it's being in Afghanistan or something else. You can't win with these guys. Also, France has some experience with small scale terrorism (by Algerians in the 90s), so I don't think they're freaking out over this threat.
