GIJoe: Resolute debuts today!

Cobra!

Sorry, just got through watching parts 1 and 2 again. This really has the "Feel" of the old-school stuff, kicked up a notch. Love the new Flagg.

Not bad. I thought some of the voice actors were a little gruff. But I like Duke's blunt ultimatum to Scarlet. I haven't followed GI Joe in a long time, and I don't remember there being a Scarlet-Snake Eyes-Duke love triangle. Is that something that happened in one of the other Joe animated series, or in one of the comics?

I thought the Cobra Commander voice actor was okay, but I miss Chris Latta. The new guy was decent though.

Hate they killed off the Cobra operative. He was underused, but one of my favorites. But I give them credit for adding some 'realism' I suppose. Though I'm still fond of the old 80's series where everyone went home at the end of the day.

From what I've seen so far I hope the movie turns out like it.

I never followed the Joe comics, but my understanding is that Scarlett and Snake Eyes were an item. Of course it's sort of implied in the '80s animated series that Scarlett and Duke had the hots for one another. Maybe the love triangle is a way to acknowledge both continuities or something.

I was thinking the same thing myself...

Disney-quality cel animation is expensive. This kind is less expensive, which suits the likely low ROI of this series.

Wow. Lots of people die. A stark contrast to the original series. I like it.

But why does Cobra Commander care for money?

He doesn't. He said he once thought money gets power. Now he knows that power is where it's at. So he wants control, not a ransom.

Some people are saying that 80's cartoon Cobra just wanted ransoms. Not always. Some of the bigger schemes were about world conquest (MASS Device, Pyramid of Darkness). It was actually the comic book where Cobra wound up being more about making and taking wealth than global domination.

I'll watch it. But it's Ellis so it's gonna be fricking weird I just know it.

No, Ellis seems to be on his best behavior here; no horrible sexual perversions, just the proper ludicrous scale of the Sunbow G.I. Joe cartoons of my youth with a slightly harder edge. It's pretty watchable.

The third part is on Youtube already.

My only big complaint is the voice acting is a bit generic. Flint and Gung-Ho and Duke...GRUFF-GRUFF...

It doesn't help that it sounds like they have go-to guy Steven Blum in there, I love Cowboy Bebop and Big O but sometimes I get tired of hearing that guy in everything.

Not to mention I watched the part 3 on youtube and I think he did the voice of about 3 different characters in a span of 20 secs.

Yeah I had the same questions. Is this show supposed to just be 5 minute mini episodes?

And haha the lack of voice variety is apparent and I had to get a little used to the anime style.

But the plot was definately suprising. Nothing like the old cartoon. I mean when Duke was injured by the snake in the GI Joe movie I was absolutely shocked as a kid!

There will be ten five-minute minisodes followed by a ten minute finale which will then be shown as a one-hour movie (I think it's supposed to be on Cartoon Network next Friday and Saturday) and probably released on DVD eventually.

It's listed next Sat Night/Sun Morn at Midnight on Cartoon Network for a 90-minute slot. I hope it gets a good audience so they will try these experiments more. This has already bested any animated GI Joe revival I've seen to date.
