GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

I do wish they had kept that scene about Dana's genetic destiny.
I can see why they cut it. It really doesn't add anything, it's not like it actually goes anywhere, plus of course as with most of the deleted scenes; the comedy didn't really land.

Or you know, you could just watch it on youtube. ;)

Nice. Honestly it never occurred to me to see if the video was on YouTube. There was a time when the studios would force stuff like that to be removed quickly.

Yep, curious to see if it is still considered cannon with the new movie...

I have my doubts that it will be. While I would love it if it were, games usually take a much lower precedent. It was for its time, the closest we would ever get to a 3rd movie. But I have a feeling it will get pushed to the side.

Romantic Comedies??? How many ever get sequels? Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile are a rare exception for an action, adventure franchise because the two leads are male and female love interests.

The Crocodile Dundee movies surprisingly buck the trend. In the first movie she falls in love with him and leaves her boyfriend for him. By the second movie they're still together, and by the 3rd movie they're actually married.

These days they put it up themselves just as often as not. Indeed, some of this is up on the official GB channel, just not all. Not sure which studio it is (I want to say WB?) but for one of their official channels, all it does is upload back catalogue DVD & bluray extras and documentaries. I guess in the age of streaming with physical media taking a back seat, that stuff has become less like gated extra material to incentivise a purchase, and more just promotional material to sell the movie.

That's another movie sequel from the '80s that's way better than many give it credit for. Crocodile Dundee II. I find it as watchable as the first.

Yeah, watched it today, in fact. I love the whole flip of Australia/NY NY/Australia in both movies. It surprisingly holds up very well, as you point out. I love Mick's psychological warfare against the drug lords angle :D

Rico the drug lord is a surprisingly effective villain. I'm still impressed after all these years that the producers made a sequel this good when they could have just phoned it in and given audiences a complete retread of the first movie.

That is a good example. I see her as Dundee’s Lois Lane or more accurately the equivalent of Jane to Tarzan.

Yeah, that's a good point. And if it were made today, I think the producers would be too intent on putting in action where it's not really necessary. What really works for me in this movie is the slow buildup. It's sparse, and it works precisely because of that.

"Yeah, well MAYBE you guys can protect her but I KNOW I can. But not here...I need somewhere where I can see 'em coming!"

And cue the coolest transition of the whole Dundee franchise.

I think one of my favourite scenes is from the original near the end in the subway scene. The exchange between the three men as they yell out her message is just classic. "She thinks she loves you!/ I think I love you , man!" The look on his face as he realizes what he's just said is priceless.

^By that logic though, wouldn't Lois be equally a target?

IIRC it was going to be a plot point in the 2009 video game that Dana was a descendant of Shandor and that's what made her such a spook magnet. Unfortunately Weaver declined to sign onto the project, so they just invented a new character and made her a Shandor scion instead.
I didn't realize they wanted Signourney Weaver for the game, it's a shame she wouldn't do it. Alyssa Milano was a pretty good replacement though
I loved the game, and not just as a game, but with the way it actually added to the GB in general.
Same here, they really did a great job of making it feel like a 3rd movie, with an unlimited budget.

I'm curious how they are going to work Dana into Afterlife, it's pretty obvious how the original Ghosbusters are going to come into it, but her role isn't as easy to guess.

I've only ever seen the first Crocodile Dundee, but now you guys have got me curious to check out the others.

Frustratingly, only the first two are readily available. The 3rd one is not that great, but as a completionist, it's one of those movies made long after that are hard to come by.
