Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

I don't have a problem with that either! :techman: I was afraid they were going to go with something futuristic or stupid like the proton packs from Extreme Ghostbusters
hey, i liked Extreme Ghostbusters.
It was politcally correct suckyness

I remember it being pretty decent. I haven't watched it in a while but the stories were pretty great.

I didn't like Slimer's appearance, that's about it.

They had a guy in a wheelchair and a guy named Roland, if they had just put those together... I liked Kylie and Eduardo but really it's hard to take anything labeled "Extreme" seriously these days.

And the suits themselves have the right kind of updating, too -- nothing drastic, still close enough to be cousins to the original beige suits, but the only real update are the modern reflector stripes used for firefighters, EMTs, electricians, etc. They weren't as common as the 80s but they are now, so it's a minor modernization that works.

Yeah I'm relieved they're going for the same kind of drab costume colors as in the original.

Something else I always loved was how the original characters were always weighed down with tons of extra equipment and had gadgets hanging off their belt and tubes coming out of various places. It was a very messy and sloppy look that I hope gets carried forward to this movie.

Costumes: love it.
Cast: Love it.

Everything I read or hear about this movie just makes me want to see it. I don't think I've been this excited for a film since, well, Star Wars Episode I.

May we not be anywhere near as disappointed, lol.

Yeah, God forbid that kids of all kinds should ever see people like them as heroes.
Except kids of all kinds didn't see it. The show was a failure.
thats one way to put it. another would be the show failed because it was constantly placed in poor timeslots.

The poor timeslots was the primary reason, not the diversity angle (if anything, it was lauded for the push). Consider that kiddie shows of the time like the Magic School Bus, slightly older fare like Captain Planet, and even the Power Rangers pushed diversity on children's TV, because it reflects their audiences and their worlds.

Part of the reason why XGB took on a more diverse route is because NYC is itself one of the most diverse cities in the nation. These days, a random sample of New Yorkers is more likely to have a mixed group across gender, race, and ability rather than a homogeneous one like the original 3 men.

My only concern for the movie is Melissa. I have grown to detest her acting abilities and although once fun to watch has grown tiresome to behold.

I think she might be fine in this one...I predict she'll be the mousy nerd who by the end will find her courage. A little different than most of her roles.

it's Leslie JOnes I am not excited about. She'll be same as every character she portrays on SNL.

*sigh* Dammit. As much as I really don't want to like the idea of this movie even existing, they're going out of their way to do things that are getting me excited about it. Calling it now, if they cast Rob "President of the Navy" Riggle in this, I'm there opening night :techman:

Actually, that looks about right to me. Surprised they didn't go for more of a classic, but they did keep the colour scheme, and at least they didn't go with a modern car, like an SUV or something. Just for laughs, I would have made it out of a classic VW Bug.
