Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

Except those designers don't make clothes for average sized people. They make clothes for walking toothpicks. It's a completely fair point that their work has become ridiculous in the extreme.

Actually, they make their clothing for the average person, not necessarily 'toothpicks'. And as most women in Europe (probably) aren't tall or 'big', that's what designers go for. If Ms. Jones wanted, she should have either sought out a dressmaker that's not one of these designers, or just wear what she damn well feels like wearing, as this lady did when she accepted her Oscar.

Not that this has shit to do with Ghostbusters but it's not like Leslie Jones might have a co-star with a non-standard size that has figured this out.

Hollywood/high fashion designers don't make clothes for the average person. They're not talking about some normal brands that people can just walk into a store and buy for a few bucks.

So apparently there's a young-adult novelization, too. Just saw it on sale this morning.
It now takes place in a near-future dystopic NYC where teenage Abby learns she's the chosen one fated to save the world from the supernatural. She falls for bad boy romantic rival Chris Hemsworlth as he competes for the title of chosen one that he believes belongs to him.

The New Ghostbusters Ad-Libbed a Scene to Address Its Haters

The new Ghostbusters movie has attracted a veritable shitstorm of reactions—whether that’s based on the gender of its cast, its rebooting of a beloved franchise, or basically just existing. The end result? A scene in the movie where titular ‘busters address their haters in both the film and in reality.

It’s a clever takedown of the disproportionately large amount of criticism the new Ghostbusters movie has received—but one that might backfire depending on how reaction to the movie pans out after its release next week. However, the few early reactions to press screenings are positive. Full reviews for the film will begin dropping this Sunday, July 10th, including ours.

I have this sneaking feeling that the flim is going to be a hit. I know it has it's detractors, and aside from the outright haters, a lot of them have good points. But I think in the end they (like very other movie) will just be a vocal minority and the people who are excited to see this (like me) are mostly quiet about it.

I could be wrong of course, but either way I'll be seeing this opening day next week :)

I have to admit, I am liking the clips a lot more than the trailers.

Holy crap, not me. The first two clips made my jaw drop just a little bit. In a bad way.

Those clips looked pretty bad. I'm not a die hard Ghostbusters fan but wow... Not surprising though. After the Robocop and Total Recall remakes, I'm done with remakes of already good movies. I feel bad for the cast. I like them, but they are being wasted on that.

I liked the second clip a lot, in the video games you were always able to do that with ghosts, and I was always disappointed it wasn't anything we really saw them do in the original films.

Yeah, those clips are pretty cringeworthy. The humour feels like something out of an Adam Sandler movie.

The only thing that got a laugh from the preview featurette at the original Ghostbusters screening I went to a few weeks ago. Everything else barely even mustered indifference.

Was perusing the toy aisles and saw the new Ghostbusters figures were hit pretty hard. Don't know if that's because they're new and possibly hard-to-get at the moment or a sign of interest in the new take.

I was walking through my local Target last week and saw several of the figures of the new cast were already discounted.

Has anyone here seen the fan film "Return of the Ghostbusters" ? Since the Trek community is into fan films, it might be worth checking out at some point.

A video review of the movie has made it to YouTube:

Apparently, Chris Hemsworth is the best thing in the movie. BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

Not watching that video but I wouldn't trust any early reviews (especially with that thumbnail). There's just too much bias out there to trust that these aren't feeding into that consciously or not.

So naturally an early rave review would be subject to unconscious bias and should be ignored too.

...Though some parts of that review did make me roll my eyes. Fo' sho'. :)

That's what I intended by my statement. I think any review right now is in risk of trying to stick it to the haters or to support the movie on principle as much as the other side goes the other way with it. Not to say no one is capable of reviewing it objectively but the well is too poisoned for me to trust in early reviews.
