Getting rid of old books

I have about 25 or so ST books in great condition, selling thems not really an option because they don't get much, and the big bookstore in the city centre that takes books for credit or cash does not take ST books.

Do I have any alternative to throwing them in the recycling?

TBH I would happily send any of them to people for free, it's the idea of them either lying around or being thrown out (even if they are recycled) that bothers me.

are they star trek or original sci-fi? I would gladly pay for shipping. may i know titles?

Or to a charity shop. I did that with a few a while back!
Indeed. I had a big clear out when I moved house and got rid of a lot of Trek books. Figured I'd never read most of them again anyway, but I read them all one last time before taking them to Oxfam.
My new place is a lot smaller that where I was before, so over the past year I've been slowly getting rid of more as well

Ok, here is a list of the novels I have, if anyone has not read one and wants it, PM me and I'll stick it in the post to you, I'll leave them aside until Sunday 2nd November then donate the rest to the local library.

I'd like them all except Q&A, Vendetta, Avatar and Mission Gamma, but I can't PM you. Yours doesn't seem to be working. Can you PM me with your email address?

But if you give them all to a charity shop, although they won't charge much (I recently bought a new copy of Jurassic Park for forty pence) they will be resold and said charity will receive the money!

Is there any damage or cracks in the spine in your Mission Gamma book? I already own a copy but got it used and its not in as good a condition as I normally keep my books.

Donate them to your local library.
I'm not sure if there's something similar in Ireland, Phoenix, but here in the U.S. the public library can provide you with a receipt for your donation that you can use for your federal income tax filing (considered a charitable donation).

If you don't want to recycle them what about a good old fashion book burning? It is quite a fun activity, especially on a cold night.
