Getting annoyed by the DS9 Relaunch... (spoilers)

Just out of curiosity, what do those of you who didn't like the MU storyline think of the MU in general? Did you like the MU books (if you read them)?

I didnt like the MU books on a whole, at least the aspects that dealt directly with the MU. I remember being disappointed with The Soul Key.

I just find it stretches my suspension of disbelief too far the more it is used. When you realise that, despite being in a completely different universe and situation, the characters parents still managed to find each other to give birth to them, their parents did to make them and so on, and you see characters like Mirror Vaughan, who not only exists despite the different universe, but has met the same person he did in the main reality, but he has also fathered the same child as well, and that despite the wholey different universe situations that have shaped them, none of the counterparts are really that different from the main universe ones.

It is one thing to watch the MU on tv (and even there I felt it was used too many times) because at least I can be distracted from the concept by watching the regulars play themselves in a different set of circumstances, but in the books without that distraction, I dont enjoy the MU.

I think JD was asking if you liked the Mirror Universe trade paperbacks (Glass Empires, Obsidian Alliances, Shards and Shadows). That is, he's asking, is it the Mirror Universe as a whole that you have a problem with, or just its treatment in DS9.

I thought the mirror universe was a fun but cheesy idea when used in TOS and I've never really enjoyed it since in any format - with the expection of "dark mirror" which is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Er, if the 'MU' arc is the story that starts in Worlds of DS9 book 3, then moves through Warpath, then into Fearful Symmetry and into The Soul Key... well, I haven't read Soul Key yet, but so far I am really loving it. It's important to note that Fearful Symmetry is not set in the MU and barely even contains any MU characters (if any?)

Soul Key is much more set in the MU. But I'm glad you're enjoying it, I did too :)
