Geordi And "The Game"...

And yet he got drunk in the second episode.

The Psi 2000 virus (variant) worked by altering the density and composition of water molecules in the brain which interfered with their ability to communicate with one another. Like being drunk. (Alcohol gets between neurons and screws up the electrical connections between them.)

... Arguably the Psi 2000 virus did the same thing to Data's "brain" and interfered with the communication between Data's circuits. Sort of like getting a electronic damp or wet and the screen becomes all glitchy and the it sort of functions, just not very well.

This is different than "the game" which provided an emotional stimulant which Data was incapable of.

You know you’ve watched too much WWF when you read that title and go, “Geordi and Triple H?” :)

Data did make a comparison between his "chemical nutrients" and biological blood.

In turn, the Game provided the victim with "information" that resulted in the addiction. This was not dependent on what formed the addiction in the victim who had received this information: in Picard, it would be his human biochemistry, but in Data, it could be his positronic pathways or his stimulus-processing subroutines.

"The Game" really is easier to accept than "The Naked Now" where we may have to speculate that Data faked being drunk in order to be more human...
