When I first saw Genesis as a kid I found it scary as hell. On a second viewing, yeah it's pretty silly but I still found it OK to watch. It is similar to some of the sillier stuff on Voyager, but being on TNG elevates it somewhat (e.g. it has Patrick Stewart in it).
Beverly laughing and joking at the end even though this was largely her fault and led to the death of at least one person was rather ill-conceived, I must say.
I don't think Braga's a bad writer though. Parallels is one of my favourite TNG episodes and, of course, he co-wrote All Good Things... as well.
