Yep seen it a couple of years back, though it did appear some time after the extreme rough cut footage that was posted by Section31.com a long time ago.

As I recall it was a Brazilian website (or user on this BBS) that I downloaded it from last time round, so TrekWeb is way out of date with its 'news'.

That is a really bad ending. Yikes. Kirk is shot in the back like a chump, then Soran keeps jumping like a fool with his hands in the air, and looks totally rediculous.

How about this, Soran: Invest in a hot-air balloon rather than blowing up a sun. Easier, no?

there are parts I actually like better. It's certainly a more action-packed fight than the stupid bridge-falling we had in STVII. But it seems a little out of character for Picard to shoot Soran in what's basically cold blood at that point. And Kirk gets no final line? (It's hard for me to hear the bad print)

Kirk's final line was "Least I could do for Captain of the Enterprise."

Like you, I liked parts of it, but other parts of it were really silly.
