General Trek Questions and Observations

In a sense, the Borg got Starfleet better prepared for something like the Dominion.
Starfleet doesn't care about external or internal security at all.
If they were at all serious the Federation Council would have built hundreds of Sovereign Class starships and settled them around the Bajoran womhole with phasers locked and quantum torpedoes weapons hot at the slightest movement inside .
But! LOLNO. They were getting their asses handed to them and had to trick the Romulans to join in the war.
Evidence of the Borg made the Feds do fuck all for any defensive measures.
For starters, the changelings could impersonate anybody.
But they didn't. They could have infiltrated Starfleet or positions of powers for years without detection.
Which means the Dominion are just as stupid as the Borg, Cardassians, Klingons and Romulans.
Thank God some of it was fixed for Picard S3.

They joined forces and inflitrated the best way possible, brought the Feds to their knees.
All hail the Borg.

No, wait, fuck that. The Borg were the worst excess of fan service in a season brimming with it.

Little ship PWNED by Borg disruptors until the glorious entrance of the Enterprise-E.
Yet stood up to Dominion and Cardassian warships so again a move towards better defenses.

Not bad for an exploratory agency.

Worked better than all of NuTrek combined even SNW.

> Made to go against the Borg
> Fail at first engagement

Very bad for the Feds.

Hahahaha...oh, wait, you're serious?

Sorry, I'm going to laugh harder now. I needed a good laugh.
From our very own website, two years ago:
Succeeds in other places. Very good for the Feds.
My turn. :guffaw:

Picard's brother's home didn't have fire extinguishers. :shifty:

The Defiant was battling that Borg cube from the very beginning. (You hear Worf's voice over the speakers along with "Defiant and Lexicon" being mentioned.) ThIs battle waged for quite a while, while many other ships were destroyed by the Borg. (Including the Admiral's ship.)

And not only did she do a hell of a job in that fight, she survived the cube exploding... AFTER she was already severely damaged and adrift, something at least one other powered, mobile Starfleet ship couldn't do.

So no... she most definitely was NOT a failure. The Defiant proved her worth in FIRST CONTACT, and she proved herself time and time again on DS9.

Stumbled upon a fan art of a TOS era Y WING style courier ship. In my opinion the Y WING from Star Wars could fit very well within Star Trek.

Thought I would share and see if people liked it as I did.

I don’t get how these ships cycle through letters so fast, yet a thousand years later Voyager is only up to the J. Maybe they’ve cycled through the alphabet multiple times?

Ha! Years ago I did something similar with the Y-Wing and turned it into a small Romulan War era Starship. At about 125m long, it was designed to Intercept Romulan forces with the speed of an NX Class, while lacking pretty much anything not weapon related.

Basically a Warp core with guns.

At one point we were going to get a late 24th/early 25th century Excelsior-C.
That looks better than the Excelsior we got in some ways I reckon. I don't like how the final ship has nacelle pylons that are bent so that they lean back on the top view and forward on the side view.

I do like that they didn't call it the Excelsior-C in the actual series though, even if NCC-42037 is still a weirdly low number for such a late 24th century-looking vessel. I suppose it could be a 40 year old ship that just had a refit.

Anyway it's all blown up, so they're gonna have to design an Excelsior not-D now.
