General Trek Questions and Observations

So I was watching Infinite Regress (Voyager, Season 5) just now and Seven talks about a Federation Starship that was, supposedly, assimilated 13 years prior to that episode. The episode says it's about a year after Seven was liberated (which happened in 2374, placing the episode in 2375)
So that means that Federation ship was assimilated in 2362, FIVE years before Wolf 359, two years before the Enterprise D officially had first contact with the Borg and still one year before that Borg incursion along the neutral zone where they scooped up those Romulan (and Federation?) outposts.

So was that Federation ship just assimilated before it could inform the rest of the Federation? Or is that another of those pre-Q Who interactions the Federation kept secret?
Really by now it seems all Q did in QWho was to force the Federation and Starfleet to admit that the Borg existed...

And how did they get Bajorans and Ferengi? Especially a member of the Bajoran Milita? Where there Borg incursions of the Alpha Quadrant besides Wolf 359 that we never got to see or hear about?

If a Federation ship simply went missing, the Federation wouldn't know what happened to it.

If the Ferengi are roaming far across the galaxy in lone ships, trying to sell stuff here and there and to set up business operations wherever there's opportunity, it wouldn't surprise me if a few had been captured by the Borg. They do have a very low Borg species designation number (1-8-0) which could indicate the Borg encountered them long before most other AQ species.

I don't know about that ship, but the Ferengi have a very low species number (1-8-0) . If the Borg assign those numbers to species in chronological order of encountering those new species, they must have met them a lot earlier than most other AQ species for some reason.

I mean I suppose with the Ferengi being such wide-faring traders that some Ferengi ship went through a wormhole ages ago and landed in or near Borg territory.

But that still leaves that member of the Bajoran militia, she's clearly seen in the militia uniform during Seven's hallucination. Assuming the Bajoran Militia adopted the current uniforms after liberation (so 2369 at the earliest)...how did they get her?
Edit: Looking at the timeline, this is post First Contact, so I suppose it's possible that some members of the Bajoran militia were on board the ships that fought that cube, maybe she was on the Defiant.
Edit2: They also have Cardassians, how did that happen?

We don't know whether they changed their uniforms after the liberation. In fact we already see Kira in a uniform in the very first DS9 episode, when the Cardassians had only barely left. I wouldn't expect a uniform change to be top priority with their world in shambles (in fact I wouldn't expect them to have a uniform at all). Also, members of the militia probably also ventured off world pre-liberation, to be involved in smuggling operations to get weapons for their resistance. However, once again, I wouldn't expect them to wear a uniform in those cases, even if they had one.

I don't think they wore uniforms that are as obvious, highly visible and useless for combat as the Bajoran militia uniforms during their struggle for Freedom, so I assume it must have happened at some point when the Cardassians where transferring power to the Provisional Government. I do think they would have placed some importance on putting uniforms the former freedom fighters to make it clear to everyone that they are now the official military of free Bajor.

And the girl in Seven's hallucinations is clearly wearing a Militia uniform (the same colour as Odo's so I think that's security)
I mean again, it's possible she was on one of the ships from First Contact. Or the Borg had some subspace corridor that ended near the Wormhole in the Gamma Quadrant and she was assimilated there. Wouldn't have been the only Bajoran ship that disappears in the Gamma Quadrant, I suppose.

Does Tuvok have hidden issues with the color red?

One thing he should have done, to ease the transition in "Resolutions", was put on a command uniform. Is it any wonder that Harry had trouble with the transition when Tuvok himself didn't seem to take it seriously?

Also, he was presumably first officer in "Before and After", and as such should have been wearing a red uniform. I assume that Ayala would have taken his place as security chief.

Of course, he was around back in the days of Kirk and Spock, so maybe he had it in his head that wearing red was a health hazard...

PTSD from his monster maroon days? He was about six-to-nine years old when the TOS uniforms went out of style.

Is there a list of these species desig numbers? I was just wondering, which species would be represented by '1' ...

I actually have an intriguing thought, regarding a couple of TNG's less stellar efforts.

Q-PID: Picard says to Q that he'd like to save the favor Q owes him for a later date. Q agrees.
HOMEWARD: Picard summons Q and points to the whole planet that's about to die in agony due to its atmosphere disappearing. He says "Fix that and we're even". Q snaps his fingers, and problem resolved.

Worf could deliver his iconic "I am NOT a merry man!" line at a different time, maybe on the holodeck with Alexander.

Jeez...in no way would I put the fun Qpid down with the revolting Homeward...

Makes me wonder why the Vulcans have such a lower species number than Humans (unless...might the Borg consider the Vulcans and the Romulans to be the same species? If so then it's possible due to Borg incursions into the far-end of the Space Empire, as in the part furthest away from the Federation "border")

Well.... even without the assumption that Vulcans and Romulans are considered the same species by the Borg, the Vulcans have been in space a lot longer than humans, and not all of them are alike, even though in Enterprise it is said they don't share the human love for exploration. Perhaps a few 'intrepid explorers' wandered off, and eventually ended up in the Delta Quadrant somehow.

Or vice versa. A Borg Cube or 10 may have done a good sweep of the Alpha Quadrant races in circa 1500 AD to see if any races of good technology existed. Grabbed a few Vulcans, maybe a Ferengi or two, then took one look at Earth and said "Eh, bunch of primitives. Maybe in a thousand years..."

Except the Borg were only really starting out back in the 14-1500s, as per VOY Dragon's Teeth.
