General Trek Questions and Observations

I have a question about where to post something: two awesome combat compilations of the Defiant on YouTube with music ovelaid over them, where should I post them on this forum?

Deep Space Nine forum, or Trek Tech.

Does anyone else remember when SpikeTV syndicated Star Trek in the late 90s?

When they put a black bar at the bottom of the screen where they showed advertisement and really thought nobody would take issue with this?

Rick Berman worked on Star Trek from 1987-2005. 18 years.

Kurtzman started working on Star Trek in 2005. It's now 2023. 18 years.

Pretty soon, Kurtzman will have worked on Star Trek longer than Berman.

I think Kurtzman has taken the opposite tack of Berman... the former didn't allow much variation on a theme, while under the latter, it's gone in multiple and highly varied directions.

And produced less episodes/quality than Berman by a quadrant mile.

I would change the portrayal of the Maquis in TNG, VOY and especially DS9. I would portray them with more sympathy and the Federation with less sympathy.

Hey guys, I am VERY new here. I have a question and was wondering if anyone has heard of this (I'm not even sure if this is the correct spot to ask). I have a 1991 Playmates Deanna Troi Action Figure. As everyone knows, these were stamped with a serial number on the bottom of one of their boots. The figure I have was stamped twice, once on each boot, the S/N's are differant. I would post a pic, but the figure is still on the card, and I can't seem to get a clear shot. Has anyone ever seen or heard of something like this?

Thanks

Wondering when Kurtzman will give his Valentine to the fans?

* In terms of a true valentine (red roses, fine chocolates, classy jewelry, scented candles, and a romantic Caribbean cruise), hard to say. We've gotten some nice stuff already.

* In terms of a "These Are the Voyages" valentine (wilted roses, chocolate laxatives, finger-greening rings, stinky cheeses, and a ticket on the Titanic), I think that's yet to come. Many of the seasons of Picard and Disco have their detractors, but I don't think any one season or episode stands out.

Here's a question... which of the following are closest to pure evil?
The violent and exploitative Cardassians?
The treacherous and oppressive Romulans?
The vicious and ruthless Dominion?
Or the soulless and relentless Borg?
Or something else, maybe?

Out of those four I'd have to say the Dominion. The Cardassians and Romulans were both pretty bad but not so bad they were immune to change from within. The Dominion bred its own worshippers and threw their lives away at every whim while actively ruining the lives of everyone who dared even consider not bowing down to them, regardless of who was actually even a threat or not.

The Borg were even worse in effect but they're arguably their own victims as much as they are victimizers.

Given that Data was similarly snubbed, there's a bit of "pot calling the kettle black" in that meme.

Considering Data's childlike naivety and inability to comprehend basic organic motivations, actions, and communication issues even with a universal translator I'd say he was overpromoted regardless of his technical knowledge.

On the other hand...
Data: Saved Earth from assimilation by the Borg. One year layer, may have saved the Federation by ending Romulan involvement in the Klingon civil war. Still a LCDR.
Deanna Troi: Took 23 tries to kill a facsimile of Geordi LaForge. Promoted to CDR, and Data has to call her "sir".
If Data was over-promoted, so was Troi.

Just don't try that with bronze sculpture... let it get cool enough to solidify.

Data also successfully commanded a ship during a blockade, addressed concerns with his crew, and demonstrated ability to think outside the box during a crisis, despite his crew's misgivings.
