Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

When most of us here were kids, we were told these wild things about what the year 2000 would be like. And now we're in 20 years into the 21st Century and a lot of it isn't like what I pictured at all. I had The Jetsons and Back to the Future, Part II in my mind for what now would look like.

I think it would be neat if when the crew of Discovery were kids, they were told what the year 3000 would be like. And when they're in 3188, I'd love if at least one of them said the words, "This isn't what I thought it would be like at all!" Even in the future, they must wonder about what The Future will be like.

Indeed. Even my mom, pragmatic that she is, is still mad about the current future with no flying cars.

ETA: An apparently secretaries would have interesting fashion choices (Wonder Woman comic from the 40s):

Considering it's only ten days and counting till the Season 3 premier, it's oddly quiet in here.

Maybe everyone is just waiting for Lower Decks Season 1 to be over?

Most of the arguments that fueled the first two seasons' worth of threads have resolved themselves one way or another.

"Burnham is Spock's Foster Sister?" She's in The Future now, so it doesn't matter.
"It doesn't look like TOS!" Again, we're in The Future, so it doesn't matter now.
"Why isn't the Spore Drive in TOS, TNG, DS9, or VOY?" They explained why.
"Emperor Georgiou!" Everyone's worn out from that (and this is not an invitation to bring it up again ;) )
"I can't believe what they did to Lorca!" Well, after a few years, it's time to let it go... :p
"Pike is Awesome!" That's now been shifted over to Strange New Worlds and the FOT Forum.
"Too many gays in Star Trek!" The people driving those complaints are no longer here.
"How does Calypso tie in?" You can only ask that so many times.
"Too much swearing and violence!" Whatever this series had, Picard eclipsed it.

So we're left with the trailers, which you can only talk so much about. If they give us a new trailer next Thursday, it'll light up again.

If season 3 has a new logo, I wonder if the opening credits will also be different.
And I mean completely different, not just new imagery like Season 2.

I hope so - the Da Vinci style was nice, but the new intro should reflect the very different time they're in now

It's interesting. I thought we'd get SNW Season 1 before DSC Season 4. But based solely on the shooting dates, I doubt it's going to track that way.

Nothing really on PIC other than what we already know. Nothing on S31 period.

It takes a lot of work to make animation, so Lower Decks and Prodigy aren't any surprises either. Though I think we'll get LD Season 2 before PROD Season 1.

A refresher on events (or possible events as some could have been altered because of time travel/the temporal cold war) that take place between Picard and DSC Season 3

When Trip said it's good to know Earth is still around in 900 years, Daniels said that depends on how you define Earth... :wtf:

And the time ship they find in S2 with the mostly human corpse is from 3125! A three-ringed Vulcan cruiser and an Intrepid aeroshuttle are featured as well...

This is rather random, but apparently Elizabeth Warren likes Star Trek: Discovery...
Are there other ways that you like to unwind? Do you binge-watch anything? Yes. We're in the middle of Star Trek: Discovery right now. Season 2. It's really good. Michael Burnham is my new favorite character.

The Trekkies are going to love that. Oh, yes. Every night, no matter how late it is when I close up, we have dinner together, usually have a beer, and sit and watch TV for about an hour. It's just a chance to unwind and feel like a normal person for a while.
Well, I like Mike too, Elizabeth Warren. She's the bestest.
