Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Now we need a year for Season 2. It most likely started in 2257, but when did it end?

"The Vulcan Hello" --> May 11th, 2256
+ 6 months (Burnham in prison)
"Context Is for Kings" --> November 2256
+ A few months (Burnham on Discovery under Lorca)
"Into the Forest I Go" --> Early 2257
+ 9 months (time jump)
"The War Within, The War Without" --> Fall 2257
+ 2 months (Pike's command of Discovery)
"Such Sweet Sorrow" --> Very-Late 2257 or Very-Early 2258
+ 3 months later
End of "Such Sweet Sorrow" --> Around March or April 2258

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going with the third season taking place in 3188.

I believe that They are saying that it's going to be the year 3187.
At least that is what Kurtzman is quoted as implying at SDCC last month.

I don't get the purpose of that mission. Why send human DNA and tardigrades on the Moon, to begin with? If it's to send a message to extraterrestrials then it makes no sense whatsoever. From the point, of view of someone traveling light-years, the Moon, and the Earth are practically at the same distance from wherever they come from!!!
My understanding is that it's also to try and preserve something of the Human Race for many millions of years into the future.
I guess one could call it a Time Capsule by Humanity to some distant Future Generation of Ourselves.
(hopefully, overall a better version than some of the current crop)
:crazy:

Just think. If we ever have to be revived as a species, the default backup is Humanity from 2019... :wtf:

... why can't this be the 23rd Century?

According to the laws of physics, information is indestructible, even by a black hole, apparently, So no matter for how long you will have been dead, the info to put you back together atom by atom will always be there somewhere. With enough science, no one will ever die.

20 years ago today, I first registered on TrekBBS. My very first post was jumping into a discussion about the fifth series, before we knew what the concept would be. Some wanted to go back to the TOS/TNG style of doing things. I said, right from my very first post, that I didn't want to see a copy of a copy of a copy. 20 years, and half my life later, I'm glad to see Discovery and Picard aren't just a copy of a copy of a copy.

God has it been that long already? :wtf:

I started lurking daily in early 2000.
(it was December of '99 when I first stumbled across the place)

Don't really remember the actual date I first registered, but I can't believe that it's been Twenty Years already, I'm still only 15 !!!
:whistle:

Weren’t we supposed to get a couple of animated Short Treks this year?
I thought so too, but it appears we aren't getting anything till after the New Year.
:(
