Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Hey, you did a good job. Thanks for putting the time in.

Thanks!

On a related-note, I have no idea how much of TNG will be in the Picard Series, or how much of DS9 and VOY will be folded into it... but I'm discovering DS9 and VOY characters seem to fit together pretty well. Garak and The Doctor practically wrote itself. Dukat and Seska worked pretty good too, given that they seem to be such polar opposites.

I noticed that. Someone has started a thread on another one of our forums with a similar theme, like if you could incorporate another Trek character from a different show into an already established crew. It's kind of neat really because you can imagine their expressions.

Which thread is it?

Infern0 has posted (Voyager forum) "If you were Janeway and could pick one additional crew member from the other series..." Who would you choose? You could apply that theme for the other Treks.

I picked Porthos for Voyager (though I'm reminded of the female Q and her snide remark when Q was trying to manipulate Janeway with the puppy).

For Season 2, I'm going to look for posters to co-write with me. Scripting this is a lot.

They just need to keep the tempo upbeat, be able to think outside the box when the situation calls for it, and make the characters sound like themselves.

STO's Walker Class bridge

That should actually work much better then traditional bridges, since Star Trek Online has difficulty with recreating small spaces.

I’d image this will be bigger then normal as well.

It’s all about their camera system, the interiors need to be bigger then normal so the camera isn’t inside the back of your head all the time.

I may be wrong about this, but from what I know it is not that all spaces need to be made larger, it is just that there exists a minimum size that one can not avoid.

37 categories down out of 47. Heading into the home stretch. We had some excitement during the Awards Show too. A fight almost broke out. Leave it to Worf and the Jem'Hadar to try to screw things up. ;)

Here are some screenshots of the Walker and Crossfield bridges in STO, credits to sirboulevard on reddit for taking the screenshots

They're still a work in progress, so don't take them as final.

They are still scaled up like the other bridges, for example my character is only half the height of the doors.

Great views of the bridge!

And on another note (to everyone now): I'm finished with the 1st Annual Golden Gormaganders! All 47 awards are up and posted!

The 1st Annual Golden Gormaganders

Something like this had never been attempted on TrekBBS before, so I thought it was worth giving a try. When I was in college I was President of the Anime Club (and I was a moderator on TrekBBS at the same time, so there's double geek street cred right there! :p ) and every year we put together an Awards Show. So that's where the idea came from. I was thinking back to that, and thought why not do an Awards Show for Star Trek and why not try it here? Little did I know how complex the undertaking would be to post something like this. It took a lot of planning, coordination, and plotting, but it was all worth it.

I think it captured a lot of what people think, pointed out what people like about the series overall, what they didn't as much, and even if you don't like Discovery, I think you might get a kick out of what characters from different series would think about it.

Can't wait to do it again.

Hopefully you liked my musical selections too. And some of the extra bits I put in there.

The bridges in STO as always so ridiculously big...
It’s for technical and gameplay reasons. It can’t be helped.

They’ve gotten smaller over the last 4 years though, they’re only around 1.5 times bigger instead of the 3-4 they were at launch.

You should see their new DS9 map, it’s almost claustrophobic compared to the one they had before. Some players were actually complaining it was too small lmao.
