Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

I have a rotary phone. It's one of those banana shaped ones modeled after the similarly shaped touch-dial ones that you hang on the wall. (I'm guessing it was sold as 'a new phone' to people still more comfortable with a rotary dial. ) It's avocado green.

I still have an old phone. It's one use is to sit in the closet for when a hurricane comes through, there is no power, and everyone's phone battery dies and can't be recharged. I plug the old phone into the phone line (yes, I still have an active land line) and I have phone service. I actually had to do that once, many many years ago.

This is just awesomeness....an avocado princess rotary phone:

Some might even call that color 'Klingon Battle Cruiser Green'.

I'm not seeing how the previous showrunners thought they could do this season without Adult Spock, given the story they wanted to tell. When he showed up, it seemed like everything snapped into place.

And, as a Vulcan with limited telepathy and who V'Ger called out to in TMP, it makes sense that the Red Angel would reach out to Spock. I think the season would be weaker without him, so the changing of the guard in the writer's room worked to its benefit.

It's funny to me when people go "who still has a landline?" because I live in Germany, the land of both mind-boggling innovation and a deep-seated mistrust of digital media. Landlines are still basically the norm around here, mobile reception is a joke, and don't even get me started on the state of the local internet bandwidth. But all other kinds of technology? State of the art. They just don't like being spied on.

I still have my landline. I get most of my important calls on it.

*shrugs*
Just to disharmonize the post-war French/German friendship here: In my neck of the woods I see 80+ year olds using the internet on their smartphones on a daily basis. And it's not like we like being spied on either, especially now since our intelligence agency is (rightfully) not longer trusted by our European neighbours. So, that can't be the reason

It is one of the reasons people give in polls, anyway. Also, stop trying to destroy our friendship. THE HEALING MUST BEGIN!
