Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Seems like poor planning. Like I said I haven’t watch the last two seasons but hasn’t the Discovery been visually altered? So the events of that Short Trek can’t still be yet to come, right?

I think "Calypso" is Discovery's endgame. They're working towards getting to that point by the end of the series. Whenever that is. They've only just gotten to the point where Zora is both sentient and recognized as a life-form of her own in the middle of the fourth season.

The third season was about introducing the 32nd Century and the fourth season had its own storyline delving deeper into the political mechanizations of the 32nd Century, showing Burnham actually being Captain of Discovery, and having different worlds come together in a time of crisis.

The show isn't at a point where delving into "Calypso" makes sense. "Calypso" always felt to me like something that took place after Everything Else had already happened, including DSC itself. That's why I say it's DSC's endgame and that's why I'm not actually expecting it all to link up until the final season.

Michelle Paradise, the Showrunner, has said they're aware of "Calypso" and that it'll eventually figure in. (link)

Oh I feel very, very much the same. Why can't the short treks be their own separate thing?

It's an interesting sidestep. A Discovery that never was but could have been. I agree it should be left alone, but on the other hand, if they have in mind a way to link it up then why not? It depends on how they execute it.

I'm getting sort of hyped to watch Discovery Season 4. I was in totally the wrong headspace for it earlier this year so I dropped out of it. I don't know why. I was just not in the mood for a show like Discovery. But now I'm finally getting into the groove of the idea whilst finally watching Picard Season 2. Warts and all, Discovery is still my favourite of the latest Star Trek. It's the one I'm the most invested in.

ETA - And I've got to get around to Prodigy. I haven't seen even one second of it and I'm relatively unspoiled. Maybe that should go after Picard Season 2 for me?

ETA ETA - And before I watch Season 4 of Discovery I do sort of want to rewatch Season 3. That's my favourite so far from the first three.

I think "Calypso" is the single best thing ever put out by New Trek. Bar none. Period. Followed by "Remembrance" (PIC).

Discovery is also my favorite Trek series, so I suspect I'd like however they'd connect to "Calypso". If they did. But let's say Hell froze over and I didn't like how Michelle Paradise would link Disco up to "Calypso". Even if they dropped the ball, it still wouldn't effect what I think of "Calypso".

So I just started S3, and I have a theory on The Burn.
Please don't spoil it for me, I'm putting this down to see if I'm right when I finish the season.
The Burn was caused by Dr. Burnham's Red Angel suit being sent back to the future in S2 with the sphere data
Also speculating, Kayla (the girl with the eye implant) has something to do with Control

As if he hadn't done enough the last while to really make the name drop in Disco age like milk, SpaceX paid a $250k "severance package" to an employee in 2016 over Musk's sexual harrassment and the stagnating of her career after she refused to perform sexual favours for him. Corroborating evidence includes documents examined by Business Insider. Musk asked for more time to comment, never replied, and then made his "Political attacks are coming!" tweet.

Hopefully Trek doesn't name drop living people again....
