Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

As an aside, with several people in the DIS writers room (Duff, Beyer, hell, Kurtzman himself) involved in the Picard show, how will this change the writing for DIS going forward?

My brother sent me a text earlier about the Picard show. My phone had no Internet where I was earlier today, so I'm literally about to find out everything now.

I'm glad they're doing it. The 24th Century isn't my favorite but it deserves better than ending with Nemesis.

EDIT: Looks good!

Honestly, I think Pike's effectively our replacement for Lorca this season. They'll probably have him in such a way that he'll be everything Lorca wasn't. In other words, he'll be a proper Captain. I think Saru will like him.
Obviously Pike will be the captain this season, maybe even longer. But I am hoping they would do a prime Lorca storyline, and hopefully he is very similar to mirror Lorca. That was too good an actor and character to be completely forgotten.

It would be hilarious if the Picard series is actually set in the Mirror Universe and is about MU Picard and not PU Picard.

If it was the prime version of the mirror universe, so to speak, that would be fine with me. There's a TNG Mirror universe novel which is an awesome take on it.

My brother and his friends are super-excited about new TNG. Like really excited. He couldn't wait to tell me.

And here I am like, "It'll be interesting to see what they do. Looking forward to it." Which, while positive, is so much more muted than his reaction and his friends'. They're just bonkers over it and want to see it "RIGHT NOW!!!" (Most of my friends, on the other hand, aren't really Trekkies)

General observation, though: The difference in the level of enthusiasm I'm seeing in general, at least in my circles and circle-of-circles on Facebook, is much larger for more Picard than when a new series was announced at the end of 2015 (before we even know what the series was). I think Picard will drive up CBS All Access subscriptions.

Were they stolen? I can’t imagine how they got to that yellow. It’s more garish than TOS colors that were designed to sell color TV sets.

What do you mean stolen?

Colour TVs back then probably didn't show the true colour, plus you got the studio lights and such that could throw it off.

I'm excited, as I always have been and always will be, that there's more Star Trek. I really don't care about Jean-Luc Picard though. Probably one of the most frustrating and eye-rolling characters in the franchise at times.

That said, I will absolutely watch every episode.
