Gene Coon

I think he did contribute to TOS's writing sucess.

However, I D.C. Fontana is the real brains behind it.

No! I'm asking that it be posted, posibly updated to a scalable vector format, and added to a collection!

Maybe they purposely aired it on the Ides of March?

Wasn't it more of a collaborative, evolutionary effort between the Genes and DC?

I guess that's true but I am saying that D.C. Fontana's were more of a solid record. :vulcan:

Hey, come to think of it, are there any good scenes of dramatic tension and conflict between Spock and McCoy that predate Gene Coon's arrival (which Memory Alpha says happened around ``Miri'')?

I'm trying to think of one, and while I can think of times when they disputed something -- like ``The Enemy Within'' -- but I can't think of them digging into one another.
Yup - The Naked Time. A little bit in Charlie X. I'll give you more as I get them. It was a nifty idea though.

Early eps have got spock/scott exchanges too (then may heaven have helped your mother in CORBOMITE, for instance), but they don't have the chemistry.

Coon is the one who really saw Spock/Mccoy in the actors' chemistry and exploited it (and since he was rewriting most of the stuff, he is probably responsible for punching that up in otherwise forgettable shows.)

The concept of Spock's Brain is not bad. The sets, costumes etc ruined the episode. I see the scene with McCoy working hard during surgery sweating as classic.
