Gastro Thread

I'll be re-exploring some of the traditional cuisines of the British Isles soon. It's been a while.

I just have prepared another chicken. Sadly, I forgot the garlic. I will have to do without. I'm already hungry. The chicken is still in the oven......

Garlic and chicken were made for each other.

I bought a small pork belly joint today to supplement the beef so that it would stretch a few meals, and with it came the opportunity for crackling. A bit of salt, a bit of sage, and many a smile at the table.

I had a bowl of berries topped with clotted cream from South West England. Family lore points to some ancestors coming from that area, so it feels kind of nostalgic even though the first time I even found about the stuff was well into adulthood.

I only had sauerkraut once. Think we had it as a side to pork chops or something. I didn’t not like it, but it didn’t impress enough to try it again.

With chicken. I used to stuff them with lemons at one point but I couldn’t tell if it was adding anything to the taste or texture.
My granddad made his own sauerkraut and brewed his own beer in his basement. Best smelling basement in Toledo, Ohio. I am a fan of good sauerkraut and a bigger fan of good beer.

I had a steak pie with sides of peas and cabbage, accompanied by what might possibly be one of the last cans of Murphy's Stout in North America. :sigh:

We need more pictures in this thread.

Had one of my favorites today - a caprese sandwich from our local sandwich shop. Mozzarella, basil and tomato with balsamic vinaigrette on an Italian roll.

Sorry, but I have to ask. Do you own the CatchMyParty site? If not, since it doesn't appear to be a dedicated image hosting service, I'll have to convert your image to a link. Thank you.

If you are in London, try Monsieur Le Duck - which is a pop-up restaurant that does duck and only duck - very very nice.
