GameStop's new hassle for trading in games.

Today 2 of my friends went to trade in games and Gamestop asked for I.D. and finger printed them.
Yes you read it right, THEY FINGER PRINTED THEM!

Unreal.
The driver's license for trade-ins is a requirement that goes back about ten years; when I started with EB Games in '99, we required a driver's license for a trade.

Adding fingerprinting I can understand; my last few years with the company (I left in 2006), stores taking in stolen goods in trade was becoming a real problem. Not only would fingerprinting deter some trades, but it's also a boon to the police if they need to track down the person who trading in the stolen goods.
