I just got it on my nook it is a four book series so far. And,
a tv show on hbo . The bad thing is I don't have hbo so I will read the book series till it comes out on blu ray like I do the tru blood serie which I am caught up on waiting on season 3. But this is about games of throne love the fantasy gener been gone from it way to long I thought I would start with this . comments anyone on the books or the show if it has started yet just who is in it and how close to the books it is.:guffaw::rofl::lol::eek:

Its a mini series on HBO and I think it will premiere in April. Previews look good.

comments anyone on the books or the show if it has started yet just who is in it and how close to the books it is.
The first season premiers on April 17th and will be based on the first book. From all that's known about the show, it will be faithful to the books.

I recently got the books too and am eagerly awaiting the series over in the UK:)

I think it starts April-ish here too going off the Sky mag, but we'll see closer to the time

any idea when the fifth book will be out ? Or who is in it?
No one knows when the book will be out, but for a last few months GRRM and his publishers claim that it's REALLY close.
You can see the list of the characters on wikipedia.

okay, that's all well and good . has anyone ever read his wild cards series and if so how close it to the dc universe and how many of them are pn the nook?:klingon::eek::eek:

You can get the modern trilogy and the re-released first book on nook. The rest are available in epub erm. . . elsewhere.

It feels a bit more Marvel than DC to me, but is probably somewhere in between. It goes a bit too fantastical at times, and at times I roll my eyes, but they are, for the most part, well worth reading if you're jonesing for a superhero story.

I looked on my nook so when it say's #1 does it mean reprint or something of new trilogy or series. and I now have all four book's on my nook.

Right now the only ones in print (and legally available as ebooks as far as I know) are the recent trilogy which picks up the story in modern day, and the very first one which has been expanded a bit for the new edition and will, I suspect, kick off the rest of the series being given a similar treatment.

The modern story essentially stands alone, with the relevant history covered as needed. I would actually recommend starting with 'Inside Straight', 'Busted Flush' & 'Suicide Kings' then go back to 'Wild Cards' if you still have an interest. I find some of the writing and concepts a little out there as was common amongst comic books and pulp sci-fi before the modern 'seriousizing' of the mediums. I enjoy it for what it is, but I don't hazard that it is everyone's cup of tea.

okay thank's any idea if the older ones wil be released on the nook or not. I love hero fiction dc is my favorite . now any recomendation's for other high fantasy like games of throne.

To paraphrase Jaime:

There are no books like Game of Thrones, only Game of Thrones.

The rest of the Wild cards books will be republished assuming the first one sells enough to warrant it.

I started the first book a few months back, and I really liked it. But I ended up quiting because at the time I was read a ton of books, and I couldn't remember what was going on between reading sessions. I do plan on going back and reading it all the way through some time before it comes out in April though. I'm only reading one book at a time now, so it'll be much easier. I think this, the Borgias, and Camelot are probably the new shows I'm looking forward to the most this year. I love fantasy and historical shows.

what is borgias? I've seen previews of camelot I like how it looks .That would be 2 shows about king aurthur which is fine . and I have spartacus which I like. also big fan of herculs and xena warrior prince.:eek::drool:

well jd we only have a few week away till games of throne and camelot . I so wish that we had HBO .

It's Game of Thrones. And yeah, I'm with you there on the HBO thing, but at least I do have Netflix, so I'll be able to watch Camelot on there the day after the episodes air.
