Spoilers Game of Thrones: The Final Season

Don't go with 4k with this one! First of all, only season 1 is available in 4k and second of all, the source for the transfer was just 2k. Also the 4k blu ray format sucks because of it's density. A tiny scratch destroys a huge amount of data, often more than error correction algorithms can compensate for.

I have to disagree. Blu-ray/4k (same tech in both) do not suffer in the same way from scratches as Dvds. As someone who has watched maybe a 1000 blu-rays and a 100 4k disks, I can't remember the last time I had issues with a disk playing. Dvds it was maybe 1 in 6 that were problematic.

I have seen season one in both blu-ray and 4k and the 4k is exceptional. If you have high end audio visual equipment then wait and get the 4k set once it all gets released. Otherwise go with the blu-rays as it still looking great.

I own a lot of DVDs, 1 in 6 sounds way off, are you referring to rentals or something?

Ive watched 20 4k blurays. All of them had some problems. Literally all 20.

Anyway, regardless of the quality of 4k physical media, the fact is that the discs are mastered from a 2k source. I try to only buy true 4k.

Rightfully, in addition to the poor decision to kill off one of the few people of color solely for the sake of advancing the plot, the episode is getting heat for Sansa's bizarre comment about her rape. Echoing A.V. Club's episode review, Sophie Turner's Dark Phoenix co-star Jessica Chastain voiced her own concerns:

"Rape is not a tool to make a character stronger. A woman doesn’t need to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. The #littlebird was always a Phoenix. Her prevailing strength is solely because of her. And her alone."

I don't think she is talking about rape, just her overall experience. Though she is responding to a taunt about rape, so I can see the problem with this conversation. Should have been rewritten.

The skin colour argument is bollocks at this stage of the show. 2 weeks from now most of the cast will be most likely butchered as it has over the 8 season run. It makes a mockery of real racism and makes it harder to engage people in the topic. I refuse to hold writers to ransom over who they can and cannot kill in their shows. Most deaths in TV shows are to advance the plot, DUH! :brickwall:

I remember this bullshit when Torchwood knocked off a gay character and all of the sudden the writers were Homophobes despite the show being created and written by a Gay Man. It's nothing more than Social Media outrage that sites grab onto for clickbait headlines.

I agree the rape conversation should of been rewritten. I understand what they trying to get at but they did it in a poor way though Hound's response and viewpoint was in line with his character. Sansa's response should of dismissed his viewpoint and not tried to confirm it.

I would agree if I hadn't heard from so many black folks who point out how overwhelmingly common it is for TV shows to kill off the black characters (often as motivation for white characters). It's a thing, and many black people find it genuinely hurtful.

In the last episode it was mentioned that the new Prince of Dorne has pledge his support to Daenerys so does this mean we will be seeing Dorne soldiers next episode? Their army must be reasonably intact.

I think Sansa’s comment wasn't entirely about rape but her general life experience. In the episode commentry the producers say she was acting kind of like littlefinger when she told Tyrion about Jon.

So I think she learned more from littlefinger and Cersie than Ramsey.

Game of Thrones is not responsible for what other shows have done.

I agree. But when your previous seasons have included a sequence featuring an army of nameless brown folk worshiping a light-skinned, blonde-haired white woman as their "Mhysa" in what just might be the single most obvious enactment of the "White Savior" trope in 21st Century English-language television, and your show literally only features two persons of color in the very, very extensive cast, maybe -- just maybe -- deciding to kill off one of those two persons of color so that your White Savior Protagonist has more motivation to be angry, is kind of a dick move that reflects the mental blind spots of the white men who wrote it.

Just maybe.
