Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight ordered to HBO series

Looks like a lot of fun and I'm already more engaged with it then House of the Dragon. I also like how I don't know any of the actors. Makes it easier to focus on the characters themselves.

I still haven't read any of the novellas and I probably won't get to them before this release, which I'm fine with since that's how I initially experienced Game of Thrones (before reading all of the books between the releases of seasons three and four).

The Targeyran in the the black armour and helmet look hella cool. He looks like an antagonist. He reminds me of the Black Prince of English history.

I read that the tourney featured in this show takes place a decade after the first Blackfyre Rebellion and a few years before the second Blackfyre Rebellion. Hopefully we get to see some Blackfyre characters and of course their chief supporter, Aegor "Bittersteel" Rivers as the show continues.

It always strikes me as profoundly odd that anyone would greenlight a second season before the first one even airs, but I guess that is the way of things these days. And yes, I agree that it's a very good sign for the show's immediate future.

Looks like a lot of fun. I have to say I'm much more excited about this show than I am about another season of House of the Dragon.
Agreed. Unless House of the Dragon departs drastically from Fire and Blood, we've past the point of the story in which I have any interest. It's too grim and there is no one you can root for because they're all assholes. On the other hand, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was really fun and I absolutely loved the interactions between Dunk and Egg. I cannot wait.

Exactly this. I don't even know the source material but I just...don't care about these characters. I didn't know A Song of Ice and Fire when I started watching Game of Thrones, but there were plenty of characters I loved who weren't assholes and those who were assholes that I loved (The Hound, Littlefinger) were the exception not the rule. The only reason why I've kept up with House of the Dragon is almost entirely because of Matt Smith at this point but he can only do so much.
