So it's been confirmed by wic that we will have edmure tully, apparently a casting audition tape was leaked

I went with above average this time as I felt this episode was just slightly below the quality of the preceding one.

- Arya and Tywin's scenes continue to be outstanding.

- Rose Leslie is a wonderful Ygritte, tearing into her lines with relish. The Icelandic scenery is gorgeous, too.

- There was a bit of character development for Shae in that she stepped up and put herself on the line on Sansa's behalf. Sophie Turner is doing excellent work this season in scenes that must be difficult for such a young and relatively inexperienced actress to handle.

- Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey are playing off each other really well. Cersei breaking down and Tyrion awkwardly moving forward, unsure of whether to comfort her, was a nice moment.

- The scene between Jaime and Alton was long, but worth the time spent in all it told us about Jaime. Nicolaj Coster-Waldau has said it's his favorite scene he's ever acted in to date in his career.

- The nice thing about some of the bigger deviations from the books is that I don't know where everything is headed. It's good to have a few surprises now and then.

Okay, long conversations with Jamie are awfully boring.

I generally like Jaime a lot, and his dialogue often is very witty and up there with Tyrion.

But the scene in the cage was a bit slow... I was sitting there thinking "Why are you doing this?"

Given the limited screen time, it didn't seem to add much... other than finally give Jaime some face time. It just felt superflous.

Then he did what he did... and it makes sense. They wanted to show you how brutal Jaime could be to that sweet (and cute I might add!) guy.

And that's partially the problem with them trying to fit so much in. They knew Jaime had to kill him, so they then had to backward build some dialogue to make it mean something. So the plot becomes a device, rather than organically being very worthwhile in the episode.

That's my view at least.

I also feel once again they failed to execute some stuff with any pizazz. The end scene just arrived so quickly on the screen and was over so quickly that it fell flat. Or is it because I knew it'd happen? Not sure... that didn't stop me enjoying stuff before. But this and Renley's death just felt poorly executed.

^ I disagree about Renly's death but agree about the final scene here. Renly's death felt shocking, this scene felt rushed.

Of course, when I saw the ep where Renly bought it, I hadn't yet read ACOK but I had by the time I saw this episode.
