Gambit....Did you think it was Saavik?

CaptMoe

When first seeing Gambit and seeing that Robin Curtis was guest starring I thought they had brought Saavik into TNG time. Anyone else think that? And why was Saavik never brought in in some form?

No, I just figured it was Robin Curtis playing a different role, just as Merritt Buttrick and Judson Scott played different characters in "Symbiosis," Majel Barrett played a new character as Lwaxana Troi, etc.

Aye, sir. That we do. Damn near missed the chance though. We were there a month ago yesterday. Went to find the escalator down to the basement, and it had just broke. (Wife wouldn't let me run down the up side.) Found the elevator, but (found out later) it had overloaded and quit working for a few minutes. I didn't want to blow the chance and kept pushing the button. After a couple of minutes it started to move again so we finally hit pay dirt. Just another case of a Trek fan being persistent I guess.

EDIT
For typo.

^Heck, it takes persistence just to find the old girl, tucked away in the back of the lower level of the gift shop.

So true. Actually had to ask someone were it was at. Hopefully I'll get some free time to resize and upload my pics. Even got a few of the never seen on camera Port side. ;)

At least it's at eye level now -- it was hard to look at when hanging from the ceiling back in the day.

Doesn't "Sarek" state that Spock, or "Sarek's son" got married (Definetly not Sybok, unless of course Spock has another sibling), and some novels (not-canon, I know) have him marry Saavik?

Also I've heard that they considered having Alley as Kelsey Grammer's XO in that episode where they keep crashing into his ship (Cause and Effect?) as a Cheers in joke, but since the ship dissiapears before the date of TWOK that wouldn't make a lot of sense.

"Sarek" did include Picard's statement that he'd met Sarek at his son's wedding. The novel Vulcan's Heart by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz established that the son in question was Spock and that his marriage was to Saavik.

They did want to do it. Couldn't work out the scheduling. Which could be polite for "Kirstie wanted too much money again."

Well, the fact that only Robin Curtis played a character that'd feasibly be alive and have a somewhat similar appearance to her earlier character might've led some to think it was Saavik.

Might've, but didn't. I never thought Sarek and the "Balance of Terror" commander were the same guy. I'm used to seeing actors play multiple roles in TV series, so it just never occurred to me (as far as I can remember) that it might be Saavik. YMMV.

"Didn't" for you, you mean.
